January 4, 20206 yr While I have never chosen in any flight sim installation to completely uninstall, and then reinstall, or update to a newer version of any flight sim title, by doing so (always did the Client/Content thing).....well, yesterday I was forced to, in being that I could not successfully update from P3D 4.4x to P3D 4.5x, (without seeing a fatal graphics anomaly) ,and could not get the latest FST's GSX/GSX2/PBR version to render properly (which was not the fault of the coding). My woes have been documented in the forum on that matter. After completely and properly uninstalling all traces of P3D 4.4x (all 7 folders found in different areas), and installing from the full install, P3D 4.5x, AND...finally spending the time, to add back all my Orbx (thank gawd for Central 4!!!!!), and other add'ons....it does appear, to be worth the effort in time to rebuild your add-on's etc. I am actually getting much better visual animation from a clean install, with add-on's one by one into the mix. Is this a good 'move' to updating any flight sim title? I guess, you'll have to be the ultimate judge on that...but for this guy....I have seen the benefits. Things get/got fixed. Things get right,...even if you don't actually know first hand, what the 'culprit' was....but got fixed in the massive sweep of your hand. Just sayin'.... Cheers! Ses
January 4, 20206 yr The problem with P3D4.X is that PBR is not in the Client this was stated on the LM forum, but the tendency for some is to only update the client, I always do the client scenery and content delete the config and shaders or full install. Then when Devs started using PBR in the scenery addons problems can crop up if you only do the client. Raymond Fry.
