Repeated issues

Recommended Posts

This works just fine; in fact absolutely PERFECTLY on the ground and very beginning of the flight, but within a couple of minutes after takeoff on every flight, I am not recognized or heard by ATC at all. I will do the "Say it" feature, which does get heard, but then suddenly the controller will answer with every response from the last several calls I made, repeatedly over and over. I pause it and do the grammar practice and and it recognizes me just fine. I listen back and my voice sounds clear.  I've read the manual from cover to cover. With these issues, sadly I cannot warrant purchasing this software.

I have numerous logfiles, but do not know where to send them. Way too big to post as pictures or text in here.  My last email to admin@pilot2atc was never answered.

Running a brand new PC with a 9700k, 32 GB of 3200 RAM, and a 2070 Super GPU; frame rates are good, seeing no resource problems, and have had no previous hardware issues.

Brian,

I got only one email from you with the log files attached.  Not sure what happened to any other emails you may have sent.

Looking through several of the log files, it appears you are flying VFR without a flight plan.  So after takeoff, about 5NM out, you are told "Mustang  Eight Eight goodday , frequency change approved".  At that point, ATC is done with you and you are on your own.  If you want something else from ATC, then you would have to contact them with a proper request, they are not looking for you to report that you are climbing to xxxx altitude or anything like that.

If you want to interact with ATC on a VFR flight, try filing a flight plan and requesting clearance on the ground, or after airborne, request VFR Flight Following.  In either case, you will get passed from one controller to the next until you get to your destination...at which point, about 10NM out, you will be told that radar service is terminated, frequency change approved.

At that point you can call tower to report that you are inbound for landing and they will give you pattern entry instructions.

Thanks for the quick response. I know how it is being the only supporting software creator as I am in the same position myself.

Shouldn’t I be able to take off with either a point to point or even no flight plan and request VFR flight following or IFR vectors to a nearby <destination> with the local approach controller? I do this all the time IRL, usually hearing a “Say request” from approach after recieving squawk from them and establishing radar contact. At one point last night, approach acknowledged my vectors to nearby airfield request, even had me switch to the proper approach frequency for that sector (which I thought was awesome, because this is exactly how our controllers would handle it IRL)  and on new freq it it issued me two sets of vectors before it quit responding. Its as if it hangs up and gets overwhelmed.

What it was doing yesterday was exactly what other users described previously, where it would not respond, and then later got stuck in a loop. I used the “say it” function, and then suddeny and repeatedly responded over and over to my previous verbal calls, which tells me it recognized the calls, but was hung up. Using the say it function seems to unhang it. You can find this looping in logs 3b and 7 (pasted below) near the end of the logs.

Also I have filed flight plans before as well (see logs) and every time regardless it works great until after I am 5-10 minutes into the flight. I then have to flip up the VR headset and use the “say it” feature to get any response for the rest of the flight.

I will do more testing tonight using flight plans and see if I can track down more consistancies. I usually set it up as automatic routing as I prefer ATC dictates the route and approach because I am using this to train up on the GTN 650/750.

Brian,

Yes, you can just takeoff VFR without a flight plan and at any time during the flight, request VFR Flight Following or Vectors to an approach.  You do need to use specific wording as documented in SayIt for it to work properly.

I will see if I can find the log where the vectors stopped and determine the problem.

For some reason the 3B log you sent me does not have the repetitive content you pasted above.

In any case, if you could send a log with the problem you're having after your further tests, along with a description of  the problem, then I would be better able to diagnose it.

It is possible for the speech responses to get trapped or blocked and accumulated as you are describing.  Hopefully if you can send me a log where this happened, I might be able to see why.

Thanks,

Dave

Here is the portion of 3b where it hung. As you can see, there were a few issues still recognizing me (seems to recognize better during practice). I noticed the time log stayed stuck on 20:56:40 for quite a while at the point of the looping. I will try and get some more tonight; is there anything else in particular I should check?

Ive actually been having some odd issues with VFR flights lately myself.  I've been getting more and more in GA lately instead of airliners so as I'm doing more VFR flights I run in to some weird issues, some of which is the repetitive bug.  I'll have to capture a log file next time.  Basically, I requested enroute a VFR flight following to KLGA somewhere around KFRG flying westbound.  I didnt get any response and when I looked at the log in green it had the apropriate phrase detected.  I asked again and it seemed to be no response/no detection.  Then to keep it simple I requested a say altimeter, nothing.  I clicked a say it for 'say altimeter'  to see if it was frozen and all of a sudden the controller went nuts repeating the altimeter setting about 25 times.  I ran through the full voice training and that seemed to have helped with some other issues, (as well as teaching me some phrases I wasn't aware of which was nice).  Next time I'll capture a log and make a dedicated post.
