Help with GNS2 software updates (resolved)

Featured Replies

I signed up for the auto update notifications last month.  I received a message when first turning my computer on yesterday, 1/14/2020, of the new GNS2 v.2.4.17.0.  I clicked on it to install and it saved it, so I thought I was good to go.  I turned on my computer today and the same message appeared about the same update.  I clicked on it again, paying a little closer attention to where it was going, as saw that it is saving it to my documents folder.  I'm assuming this is not where it should be to work properly.  I went back to reality-xp.com/support/updates to read some more.  I set up the RSS feed on my Internet Explorer Browser.  I downloaded the update again through the RSS feed and this time it saved it to my downloads file.  I don't imagine it's supposed to be there either.  As you can tell, I'm not too computer savvy.  Anyway, could you please tell me where it should be saved to work properly and how to properly do updates for the future.

Hi,

Have you actually looked at what was downloaded?

Was this a .zip file?

If so, did you tried to unzip it?

If so, did you get 2 .exe files with 'setup' in their names?

If so, did you just double-click the unzip exe file with a setup in its name so that it runs the setup exe file which name most likely implies it is an installer of some sort?

From there:

How do I reinstall my software

Thank you for the answer.  It was a zip file and I was able to extract it and get the download.
