That looks like Carenado's Copy Protection in action..

Think you've hit the nail on the head, as copy's exactly what I did from my P3D XML install ..... so a straight fresh FSX install would seem the order of the day(taking care of course to make sure I still have your panel mods in situ when done)   ...... thanks ......
