Trouble locating this file.....

Unpack (unzip) the '[aircraft]_G1000.cab' file to get to the 'G1000_config[aircraft].xml' file.

This is for FSX and P3D.

For Carenado planes, The G1000_config.xml file is usually located in the G1000.CAB file located in the gauge folder located in your flight sim root directory.  The G1000.CAB file will probably have another name depending on the plane, for example the file name for the Carenado TBM850 would be TBM850_G1000.CAB.  I do not know what your experience is with working with CAB files. The CAB files can be open with WINRAR or 7-Zip.  You will have to repack the cab file, and WINRAR or 7-zip will not work for this. You will need a program like CABPACK to reassemble the cab file.  There is also a DOS program called CABDIR included with the SDK that works also in the command prompt.  CABDIR is what I use, I find sometimes with CABPACK , I have had issues with the flight sim taking a long time to read the CAB files created with CABPACK.  If you need more help give me some details of what simulator you're using and your level of experience and I should be able help you.

Specs: black box thingy with spinning fans, lights and a bunch of wires that go to screens with pretty colours and a keyboard with many keys. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder.
