March 30, 20206 yr I like it better than Flight1's. 1) I had a little difficulty installing it. I got two DLL missing messages. One was a little box but it's gone after installing it in all my planes. However, I had to use Acronis to take this file out of the backup and place it in gauges. [removed - not RXP] I got it to install in all my planes and two helicopters. But the MilViz 530 has a problem, it shows the GTN as very small. 2) How do I use the brightness feature in the Control panel that I get when I Shift Right Click? I read the manual and don't understand the source index. And where are the rheostats located? 3) And finally, Shift+Right Click stops working after a while. Overall I'm very satisfied. But why does it use that terrible F1 wrapper? Edited April 1, 20206 yr by RXP Jack Sawyer
April 1, 20206 yr Hi, On 3/31/2020 at 2:39 PM, Jack_Sawyer said: Hello, any answers? Please? Please understand operations are quite affected with confinement. Try to do support, development, admin and spouse duties, with a teenager yelling around playing fortnite... Let me try answering it all though: 1) the screenshot you've posted is not related to a genuine Reality XP GTN 750/650 Touch product. I believe though you're getting this message because a gauge or a module in the panel is still referencing the other one. As for the 'small' GTN, it appears you've added a GTN 650 (smaller device) in a GTN 750 bezel. Either it is an error in the Milviz configuration or an error in the panel.cfg of some sort. 2) Do you manage to actually open the GUI Settings Panel? If so, just scroll the list of options and check the RXP GTN User's Manual for full reference. It is in the 'gauge' section. 3) Do you mean it opens up the panel, you then close it, redo it a certain number of times, then it won't open anymore? It would be best if you also post the content of the RXP log files just in case there is something there about this.

On issue 1, I figured out it was a DLL needed by the F1 gauge. I made sure several times that it was the GTN 750 and not the 650. So it must be a MilViz error, unfortunately I have no idea how to fix that. On issue 2, I did open the panel but a lot of things have the little red lock on them while in XP they do not. Only a couple of planes in P3D have the lock. On issue 3, yes, I can open it several times in a row but then I can no longer open settings by Shigt+Right click. Where would I find the log files? Thanks. Jack Sawyer
April 2, 20206 yr As for fixing the 650 Into a 750, you can always opt to manually edit the panel.cfg file once you fell more confortable with this. As for 2) I'm not sure to understand how what you are describing relates to not finding the setting in the GUI Settings Panel for adjusting the brightness. Please note the RXP GTN offers the choice of adjusting the brightness with a fixed percentage, or to let an external gauge controlling the brightness via a simvar. 3rd party aircraft vendors can take advantage of this for better integration to their products. As for 3), how many times before if fails (roughly)? Is this always consistent between sessions (say about 20 times every time)?

I'd have no idea how to edit the file or where to find it. I see re #2, an external device. So what should I set it to in the sim settings? As for #3, I don't know as I haven't tried it since the first time I installed it. I'd have to try to duplicate it. I'll save this email notification and let ya'll know when I get the chance. April 2, 20206 yr 1) Everything panel.cfg file related is better explained in the SDK:https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv4/sdk/panels_and_user_interface/panels/panel_configuration_files.html The file is usually located in a 'panel' subfolder in the aircraft folder, and it is just a text file you can open and edit with notepad.exe 2) I'm not sure to understand how what you are describing relates to not finding the setting in the GUI Settings Panel for adjusting the brightness: 11 hours ago, Jack_Sawyer said: I did open the panel but a lot of things have the little red lock on them while in XP they do not. I wish I had the time to post a screenshot right now. I'll have to do it in a little while if I get a chance. The red lock, most of my planes do not have the lock the settings panel, but a couple do. So two out of maybe a dozen planes, when I open the settings tab, I see the red lock on many items. Again, a screenshot would help. I'll try to post again here when I have screenshots. Jack Sawyer
April 2, 20206 yr Author 19 minutes ago, RXP said: 2) I'm not sure to understand how what you are describing relates to not finding the setting in the GUI Settings Panel for adjusting the brightness: Ok, I'm back. I just ran P3D. Here's the list of planes I'm using the Reality XP GTN 750: A2A Bonanza, A2A Comanche, A2A Cherokee, A2A 182, MilViz 407, MilViz MD530, RealAir Duke, RealAir Lancair. I loaded each plane one at a time. I started the planes. The GTN 750 powers up just fine in all these aircraft. But, if I go to Add-Ons, Reality XP GTN, all I get is "Setup Aircraft." The only options I have is Restore the settings and Automatic setup, etcetera. So does this mean I have to set up the aircraft each and every time I want to make changes to the settings? And as a test, I did just that, I went to Setup Aircraft and clicked on the automatic setup, and it shows how it's already set up but won't let me continue unless I make a change. As it stands now, I can't even get to the settings menu to see if I can examine the lighting screen in settings, or the red lock either. Jack Sawyer
April 2, 20206 yr What you're describing is documented p4 of the RXP User's Manual. Now look p5 for the settings. Once done, you might want to also read all the following pages afterward. The RXP User's Manual is a treasure trove of information.

Hi Jean-Luc, right, I realized my error after I posted, I forgot that to get to the settings I had to sue Shift+right click. I'm very tired so that's probably why. Anyway, I looked at the settings on a couple of different planes and I can't see the red lock on them which is different from last session of P3D. But I did take two screenshots of the settings concerning the Screen Brightness. I just want to know where I should keep it set. Jack Sawyer
April 2, 20206 yr Why don't you just try adjusting the screen brightness slider to 50%, or 20% and see how it goes for you? Please note: VC brightness is a little more involving because of an inherent limitation of the P3D simulator and the way aircraft vendor model their VC panels (in 3D). There is a detailed discussion here: Edited April 2, 20206 yr by RXP
