April 8, 20206 yr I am using P3D 4.5 on a gaming computer... I have all my addon scenery in one main folder on my "C" drive ("Folder") that is separate from the folder on my "C drive where P3D resides....the add-on sceneries are, for the main, in subfolders (in the Folder) that may have additional subfolders, such as "scenery" and textures"...In the Scenery Library portion of P3D, I have designated the Folder as an addon scenery item and have activated the Folder into the scenery library ..is this sufficient, or much I separately add each of the subfolders in the Folder as addon sceneries? Thanks for any help... John H. Edited April 8, 20206 yr by jmhelms misspelling, grammar
April 8, 20206 yr Commercial Member Hi, You have to add every single scenery area. A "scenery area" is the immediate parent folder where \scenery and \texture resides: F:\SomeFolder\AnotherFolder\MyScenery\scenery F:\SomeFolder\AnotherFolder\MyScenery\texure => "F:\SomeFolder\AnotherFolder\MyScenery" is the "scenery area" and that must be added to the scenery library. P3D will not parse through an arbitrary folder to find scenery areas automatically. Please note that you don't have to do this with the scenery dialog and the scenery.cfg. With P3D V4 you should use the proper method of referencing addons - as a "package", with an "add-on.xml". If you have a lot of those sceneries, the freeware Lorby P4AO tool has a feature where it will scan through a subfolder of your choice, look for scenery areas, and add them to an addon package automatically. Also, although many people dispute the significance of this, scenery made for FSX can cause content errors in P3D. If that will bother you, only you can tell. But if you experience crashes or lots of tiny stutters, legacy scenery would be my first item to check. Best regards Edited April 8, 20206 yr by Lorby_SI LORBY-SI
April 8, 20206 yr Author Hi Oliver...thanks for the prompt and detailed reply.... Sounds like I've got some work to do....had a little trouble with the suggested Lorby install location, but once I changed the installation location, it went through...I now will read the manual so I'll hopefully know what to do next... Your response much appreciated... John Helms

It should install fine in the default location, because that is where all P3D addon references belong. Seemed to work fine these last three years. What went wrong?
