October 16, 200619 yr Here is a replacement default.xml file. What it does is reduce the complexity of the special autogen buildings such as gas stations, water towers, billboards, convenience stores, fast food, apartment buildings, factories, churches etc. So instead of having several different types of these buildings, you will now have just one or two varieties. You will still have the same total number of these buildings, just less variety. I focused on urban areas and pretty much left the farms alone.I only see a very minimal improvement using this mod, so would be interested to see if anyone else has better results. If not, then can be disregarded and we can check this one off the to do list :)Just replace the default.xml file in the Autogen folder with the file attached. Don't forget to back up.http://www.fox-fam.com/FSX/reduced_default.xml.zip
October 16, 200619 yr Hello Matt,Just to thank you for your help in improving FS X performances.Go on ! Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
October 16, 200619 yr yeah thanks Matt, still hoping you get around to doing more detailed airport texture resizing as those are serious resource eaters and turning down the complex scenery wont really make it more fun as there will be hardly any buildings left.
October 16, 200619 yr Commercial Member Absolutely Matt! Keep up the good work - you are a great asset to our community!
October 16, 200619 yr i 2nd that. thanks matt for your hard work. if i could squeeze in a request as well ;)1. i think resizing the airport building textures could provide a big help. when using the resized rwy textures i saw a 2fps performance increase with zero drop in quality. i think those buildings resized could make the big airports more habitable.2. the autogen (buildings resized) could also help a great dealthanks!
October 16, 200619 yr matt, if you were a woman i would marry you. will try it out tonight.many thanks!!!
October 16, 200619 yr thanks matt are you gonna do more airport buildings i already downloaded those and they did improve a bit but i think more detailed airport buildings need a reducing in texture.
October 16, 200619 yr the reducing of textures does not causing any noticable drop in quality. if you want to stick with same old fs9 go ahead, and let the rest of us enjoy the fantastic new work in FSX. I would rather fly FSX at 10fps than FS9 any day. After 3 years FS9 is well past its sell by date.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...58857&mode=full

With every passing day FSX gets better and eventually will do what all other versions have done and push FS9 out to pasture. While I have no intentions of flying FSX exclusively for quite a while I am very excited about what the future will bring int ersm of add on innovation. I really cant imagine what is going to come down the line with complex aircraft etc etc.
October 16, 200619 yr I agree Randy,The visibility improvements in FSX alone will cause me to shelve FS9,Only one more hurdle left,Convincing MicroSoft that their Vista OS licensing policy is insanity.
