Okay, after applying every tweak available, FSX performance has skyrocketed. The biggest jump in framerates comes from the texture resize process (God bless you for that) which is worth its weight in gold.On my system, I found that leaving the "threads" alone gave the best performance along with pushing the sliders to "Unlimited". ALSO, I moved my Ultimate Traffic file over for much needed frame rate relief on AI traffic, and finally moved my Flight Environment clouds over to FSX for even more of a boost not only to frames but to the overall look of the sim (just can't beat those FE clouds!!!) The combination of all of these allows me to run with the following settings:NORMAL Autogen / Normal density (autogen fix applied), 100% AI Traffic (UT), Medium airport ground traffic, 50% cars, 100% boats, 100% ships, Complex weather, 38m terrain, water is at 2 medium, 1m ground textures, 70 mile cloud visibility. This setting FAR surpasses the beauty of FS9 with any avaliable add-on, IMHO.The combination of the above gives me a MINIMUM of 15fps at KSEA and at altitude between 25-65 fps. At KORD with 100% traffic I am getting 25 fpsOh, almost forgot, I bumped my Front Side Bus to 1Ghz and added seperate Zalman water cooler to hose down the North and South bridges. Also overclocked my X1900XT to the CCC maximum for core and memory and added a VGA water cooler to the Zalman get up which in effect gets rid of any air cooling what-so-ever within the rig. I can honestly say that NOW, FSX is ALMOST the sim that I've been dreaming of. The only thing I am getting now is periodic stuttering when entering a new scenery area in between the fluidity and it kind of breaks the flow. My question is if anyone has found a fix for the stutters or is that a remnant of some large textures still somewhere (maybe autogen?)

Nice setup!I didn't like the thought of using reduced textures, figured I have FS9 for that but your comments are interesting.Any chance you could post a few screenshots with Lat / Long etc, so we can compare our results at the same location ?

Best Ever FSX Tip: Adaptive Vertical Sync 1/2 Refresh Rate

Yep, I'll post shots at various places shortly.

it is good. I wish more had the ability to tweak and see for themselves. Also, by applying all the fixes and moving default.hml out of the way, I noticed another boost. I am running locked at 24 fps in 1920x1200x32 on my dell xps gen 2 notebook with sliders either full for scenery detail and autogen on min. Great combo of trees and some houses without extra buildings like fast food joints. 20fps steady near Boston and other urban locals and large airports. Overall a 505% increase in most fps since first installation. But flying in and out of rural places like KJAC is just phenomenal, smooth, sharp and spectacular scenery!! Gthe most fun flying I have ever had on a flightsim version! Peter

I've got ultimate Traffic and FE, but am unsure which folders/files to move and where to put. I tried installing the Activesky textures last night, and really messed up my FSX install (ended up restoring the Texture folder and then having to put back all the previous fixes). SO if you can help me with these fixes, I'd be eternally grateful.

What is the autogen fix and how you do it?2. What do you mean threads?3. I have Ultimate Traffic and FE ... how do you do it step by step.We anxiously await your reply.RegardsDave

Hi Mike,I have the same cpu as you, running on an A8N-SLi Deluxe, with 2Gig kit of Mushkin Black (XP4000 500Mhz 3-4-3-8)(250mhz dual channel right.), barracuda drives. eVga 7800GT @ 500/1.1ghz. Zahlman cooler etc. CPU temps 42 (fullload) 29 as i'm typing.FSB set at 250, Mulitplier at 11 = 2750.How did you get your FSB to 1ghz without smoking the thing? Could you tell me your cpu settings on the mainboard. I upgraded to this chip from my single core 3700, as with the 939 becoming toast - I wanted to go X2 before I would be forced to change ram/board blabla.Havent pushed it past what's shown, as up to FSX, this rig chewed up everthing anyways.Regards'Garett
