October 16, 200619 yr against themselves can not stand. So anyway, I just read through the posts, not gonna lie, some are really funny. Seems there's a bit of rude people too, I don't really care though, I'm from Vegas, I'm used to it. Anyway, good performance in FSX is possible. I don't think I have a top of the line machine, but I seem to be getting some decent frame rates. Oh yeah, I'm not a cheerleader or whatever. For those of you who don't view the screenshot forum, check out my post and pics here:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=245094&page=Basically, what I was saying is this, here's my current computer specs,Core 2 Duo E6600 over clocked from 2.4 to 2.7, standard cooling, nothing special2 gigs of DDR 667 (I think) RAM250 gig SATA II HDnVidia 7600 GT 256MB DDR 2 or 3 not sureWindows XP, service packs installednow just replace the last two lines withWindows Vista DX10 andDX10 video card and I think it'll be almost maxed out for FSX even with the PMDG 747 and LDS 767 once they're made available for FSX.So my point is, it's not so bad, I remember FS2002 and FS9 being worse, but of course I had some really old hardware back then when those came out. Thanks for reading,Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
October 16, 200619 yr Also, if you'd like to know where all my sliders and stuff are set, let me know, I can provide you with a copy of my config file. And please remember if this is one of your hobbies or passions even, or if you're just not able to get in the air for real for whatever reason, then get a new machine, for me (I'm on military salary mind you) it's been worth every penny so far, although as a side note, I'm sure if I actually saw how much I've spent on FS since FS9, I'd probably be sick, but oh well, this is what I do, this is what I enjoy.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD

Most people don't come near your system specs. You can therefore appreciate that for the vast majority of users their complaints are quite legitimate. And I tried porting over the first addon - Ultimate Terrain and just used those beautiful lights which UT has - not using anything else from UT. My system, which I had tweaked quite a bit to deal with that great big sucking sound of FPS with FSX, was crushed. The stuttering was so bad and pronounced (.5 to 1 fps as I turned into KSEA) it was unflyable. I had to remove UT. So good luck with those addons and your new rig because I won't be buying anymore addons from this fps feeding machine. Unlike FS9, FS8, where I had bought a large amount of addons.P4 3.6 GHz HT 1 gig ddr ram, ATI X800XT 256 mb PCIe video card.
October 17, 200619 yr Well Len, I honestly didn't pay top of the line prices, and also your vid card is probably better than mine. Not sure how much a gig of RAM is these days, but it shouldn't be more than $100 US dollars, and personally I'd pay it if it gives me some more FPS. Like I said, this and real flying are my two hobbies and I'll pay top dollar to enjoy the two. Also, I'd wait until UT release a compatibility patch for FSX, simply porting over an addon will not do, but when the author/developer releases a guaranteed upgrade of their product to the new sim, then it's fair to say whether or not the sim is flyable with it. Anyway, my post wasn't intended to patronize or annoy, simply I was saying that decent performance is possible with FSX and you need only to get a new system. If this is one of your true joys in life, than it shouldn't be such a big deal, I'm not made of money and I did it, and to me it's worth it. It's all about perspective. I'm sure you understand what I'm saying. I mean I know people who live in small, low rent apartments and who can have hardly any extra spending cash, but they own a BMW M5 or a Mercedes, personally I wouldn't do it, but that kind of stuff makes some people happy.Jeff Jeff Commercial | Instrument | Multi-Engine Land AMD 5600X, RTX3070, 32MB RAM, 2TB SSD
October 17, 200619 yr Author Jeff, I wouldn't worry about it. Those that can enjoy what they have, will and those that can't will be ugly about it, will get worse after the release tommorrow. I'm getting decent performance and good visuals for the kind of flying I like to do. My main concern is scenery that is not working correctly, but I'll dig into the SDks and see if there is some info.Enjoy man, I know I am.Regards, MichaelKDFW Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI-x16 / AMD Best, Michael KDFW
