Some concerns for scenery with both v4 and v5

Featured Replies

Hi,

So far i have only come across FSDreamteam who manage BOTH a P3dv4 and P3dv5 solution at the same time without issues. Meaning you can have both sim version installed without issues.

Some scenery developer like Flytampa (this is not meant to downgrade or put fingers) has the same SODE entrys folder structure which can complicate things.

They are  looking into it , so this info is just for you who has issues when trying to install into both v4 and v5 . (it can be done but see this https://www.flytampa.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13846 )

LatinVFR has v5 installers for all of their airports ready to go. I have KBWI (Baltimore), KMSY (New Orleans), and KMIA (Miami) installed and tested in v5. They work great.

Flytampa's installer works fine to install the supported airports. I used it to install KLAS (Las Vegas), CYYZ (Toronto), and KBOS (Boston). All 3 tested and working great. They still install everything under the Flytampa folder in the root P3D folder. To tell you the truth, I think FlyTampa did an outstanding job of it. The process was super easy and fast. Simply enter your email address and the s/n of the product you want to install. Done.

I moved them by cutting and pasting the entire Flytampa folder to my P3Dv5 "Addon Scenery" folder. Then, I copied the related entries from my 'My Documents/../Prepar3D v4 Add-ons/' folder to my 'My Documents/../Prepar3D v5 Add-ons/' folder and editing the 4 add-on.xml files to reflect the correct paths to my addon scenery folder.

Edit: Forgot my comment about SODE. I've been back and forth between sims a couple of times, What kind of problems are you having? The airports use the same models and places them in the same locations in both sims.

Same SODE structure location for both a P3DV4 and P3DV5 installation meens possible errors with configurators for both sims.
