DX10 won

Featured Replies

Correct DirectX 9.0L is compliant to DirectX 10 for vista, they decided to do this simply because not everyone is going to switch to vista the minute it hits the shelves. And with games coming about who are going to need DirectX 10 or at least the compliant version 9.0L.And this comes straight from someone working in the DirectX development team.

edit: already covered by the previous responses

Technically I can't imagine why DX10 should require Vista, but Vista sure needs DX10 to sell - so the subject of this thread is still somewhat true. ;)Should Vista not sell well enough we might yet see a DX10 for XP. Yeah, slim chance, I know.Regards,http://www.bremmekamp.com/img/misc/avsim.jpg

Are you sure that FSX is coded for DX10? The Dev Team have already stated no! :)

I believe tdragger (?) said something along the lines of "We don't have DX10 yet. Once we do, we'll figure what to do with it in FSX" on these boards earlier ;)

theres already another thread about this...

STOP THE MADNESS!http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35140Aside from there being NUMEROUS other threads, the original source of the article that everybody else is quoting has since retracted the article (again, that many are posting even here). There has been no change to the DX roadmap whatsoever. DX9c on XP, DX9L and DX10 on Vista. You may return to your regularly scheduled postings.

not exactly true what they say, yeah directx 9.0L will run on vista but will also run on XP, why are the MSDN testers testing DirectX 9.0L on XP if it wouldn't run lol Would be maddness then. As far as i heard from MSDN testers DirectX 9.0L runs great on XP and is a real performance boost even without the cards specifically made for it.
