GTN 750/650 Stack Unusable Display Response

Featured Replies

Hello. I bought and installed GTN 750/650 stack three days ago. I have been trying it with different planes since than. It really does not matter what plane i pick, the 750 and 650 is very slow. I mean I get about 50FPS in xplane while this is hapening so i know that it is not an overall FPS issue. The issue is that when i click a button on the gps screen, it takes like three seconds and it is very jittery. It is like the GPS having 5 FPS while xplane itself running 50 FPS. BTW i am using xplane beta with vulcan enabled, perhaps that is the issue?

I must also add, the slowdown only happens after takeoff. When I am on the ground it operates normally.

Ive been having the exact same problem with the F1 product, using p3d v4 and v5. I have identified the problem lies with the Garmin PC training software itself. The newer versions have got a major problem with display response.

I tried a much older version of the software, and the display was refreshing normally.

Certainly some settings in the software changed, who knows what.

Anybody has some insights into this?

Regards, Marius

Hi,

Can you give me more details about your config? CPU, RAM, Video Driver, VRAM

Also, did you change X-Plane process priority (manually or with tools like Process Lasso)?

Do you run full screen or windowed?

NB: running the genuine Reality XP GTN 750/650 Touch is different than running the GTN trainer standalone or running another gtn implementation because it takes active control of all these things.

No i did not change any processes manually whether that is xplane or any other. I leave the process priority or core placement completely default.

I run Xplane beta with vulcan (latest version) on a single full screen mode. Also, I use GTN750/650 stack with a plane that has G1000 already. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. I select copy all waypoints to the sim option and works great.

The trainer and RXP versions are whatever the most updated as of 4 days ago. Again, I have installed RXP 750 fpr the first time then.

Computer Specs:

  • 17-8700 Overclocked to 4Ghz
  • 64GB system memory
  • Xplane and OS on NVMe storage unit
  • Nvidia 1080TI 11GB VRAM

I do not think specs the issue. With vulcan and full settings, I get in average 50 FPS from Xplane.

Can you also confirm you're not having this issue when running XP11.50B4 in OpenGL instead of Vulkan?

Can you please let me know the following:

  • Start XP11 like you would normally with a GTN aircraft and Vulkan.
  • While on the RWY (when there is no input lag), go to XP11 menu
    Developer > Show VRAM Profiler
  • Take a screenshot for future reference
  • Takeoff and fly until you get the input lag
  • Take another screenshot of the VRAM Profiler
  • Report the values displayed at the bottom of both VRAM profiler captures, especially "Device Total" and "Device Used"
    (you can attached screenshots eventually)

Now if you could do the exact same steps with OpenGL so that we can also compare figures it would be best.
