V5 uninstall add-on leftovers

Featured Replies

This time, with P3Dv5 I wanted to do it right. Only v5 compatible add-ons with v5 installers(add-on.xml method) came onto my machine. So after uninstall v5 (for HotFix preparation), I thought it would be a good idea to check if anything has been left in the main p3d folder. I was quite surprised how much "garbage" I found. I don't mean the fact that some developers still place all their stuff into the p3D main folder as it is done by FlightBeam, DrzewieckyDesign and FlyTampa just to name three of them. That's another point worth to discuss.

I mean, how can it be that developers who are using the add-on.xml method are littering P3D folders. In the Effects folder I find left-overs from DrzewieckyDesign, FlightBeam and LatinVFR. It seems that DD also created some ORBX folders which are obsolete already. In Scenery sub-folders I find left-overs from GSX and ORBX (probably from Global Trees). There is also on add-on that placed boat Simobjects ("RDJ") and its dependencies all over the place.

I'm just wondering, why must this be?
