ForeFlight/iPad audio to PC

Featured Replies

Hi,

I hope I’m asking this question in the right forum — apologies if not. My request falls between the gaps a little— but I’m trying out different EFB tools on my iPad. ForeFlight seems a little too expensive for my (sim) flying needs so I’ve been using Stratus Insight lately which I’m happy with. However I fly using headphones, connected to my pc, but this means I can’t use hear the audio from my iPad app, which is useful for checklists, and other callouts.

Does anyone know how I can connect the audio from my iPad directly to my PC so that I can hear all audio through a single source?

Thanks for any help!

You can (if your ipad still has headphone output) connect a cable from ipad to pc (line in) and select the line in as "Listening" device in your main audio out (somewhere in the settings) but as someone who has done this for a long time It's hard to control the levels between input (ipad) and PC audio right.

In the end I bought a cheap audio mixer. Then you can connect ipad to mixer, connect PC audio out to mixer and headphone to mixer and you have separate controls to adjust audio levels coming from your ipad and pc.

I connected a logitech bluetooth dongle to a input of the mixer channels so I can connect my phone wirelessly and listen to podcasts while flying.

Only problem when you want to use a headset to talk to PilotATC or use teamspeak, especially when using a headset that uses USB, then this won't work for you most likely. Yes, you can connect a microphone to the mixer and route it from mixer to audio in of PC but are you building a cockpit or a studio 😉
