October 18, 200619 yr HiWhen I were taking a flight this evening my computer suddently rebooted and said it had recovred from a serious error. It turned out it apparently was caused by my nForce2 audio driver, but when I started FSX again I recieved a "Product Activation Error" messagebox (see attachment). I activated FSX about two weeks ago and had no problems at all activating it.Anyone have a good idea what to do (beside reinstalling FSX) ?Thanks.Jakob
October 18, 200619 yr DONT UNINSTALL IT, I had a similar problem and now I can't even install the game, I've contacted MS and they said it's being into and are going to get back to me soon. See here for more infohttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=358941&page=2
October 18, 200619 yr Author I had the same problem after a crash (product activation error). And no solution for now I try to install again but again error like you so for now no fsx in my computer.........Christian
October 19, 200619 yr Thanks for helping, guys.I've sendt a mail to MS regarding this problem and hopefully they will come up with a solution other than reinstalling Windows.I wonder how this serious problem slipped through testing.Did any of you do the autogen etc. optimization proposed by http://www.fox-fam.com/wordpress/?page_id=41 ?Jakob
October 19, 200619 yr Author Hi,Yes I do some optimization like replacement autogen but it was two or three days ago so I'm not sure it is for that. Now I'm contacting the support but for now no solutions.... I wait.Christian
October 20, 200619 yr I am getting the exact same error when I try the activate by phone option. Online activation does not work, just comes up with the "unsuccessful" error. Tried 3 re-installs which all run through fine, but the activation always gives the same result.
October 21, 200619 yr All who posted in this thread, I feel your pain. I've started a thread already about the same issue. Please post in that thread and let's try to combine all the activation ploblems and maybe Tom will pin/sticky this and keep in contained that way not to load the forums down with 50 threads of the same problem. Please read post 25 in my thread as it will pretty much explain what's going on and that it's not your fault, your hardwares' or softwares' fault. This one is once again all MS.Thanks, Dan
October 24, 200619 yr Although I didn't have a crash, I did have problems activating FSX. When I launch the Activation Wizard I was unable to activate due to "technical problems" and also not able to Activate by Phone - the process simply aborted with several additional error messages.Microsoft sent me the following solution, which did the trick.Step 1: Backup the registry:1) Click on
October 25, 200619 yr HiSaw that on possible solution on tdragger's blog but the value is already PartMgr, not 0 in my registry.I'll try setting it to 0 and then reboot. Then reset it to PartMgr to see if that helps.BAD IDEA. DO NOT TRY SETTING THE VALUE TO 0. This will cause your Windows not starting.Jakob
October 25, 200619 yr Maybe this is a silly question, but --What does using an AMD 64 processor have to do with it?CalCYXX
