November 29, 200520 yr Has anyone ever experienced motion sickness with the TrackIR? I got a terrible headache and a tad nauseus tonight flying my beloved PMDG 737 from the VC with TrackIR. All the symptoms of montion sickness: headache, blurred vision, disorientation. The thing is: I never get sick flying a real plane or even the most terrifying roller coaster.Cheers.
November 30, 200520 yr Hi,Don't drink that adult ginger ale while flying!!Edit: Some users do report this. It may take awhile for your body to adjust.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
November 30, 200520 yr When I worked on Air Force fighter simulators, some of the pilots would get sick in a particular dome to dome sim we had. Seems the motion system and the video did not quite sinc together and the crews would either get sick in the box or several hours after their flight. The fix was to leave the motion system turned off as they got just as much training from the visual part of the sim. In fact they hardly ever used their instruments since this was an air to air (eyeball to eyeball) training device. You could either fight the pilot in the other dome or fight against the computer. This particular sim had F-4 type cockpits but could be made to fly like just about any current fighter of it's day.Once we got the visual system on the F-4E and the F-111Ds, we could not use the motion system because it could not take the weight of the video displays.Terry
November 30, 200520 yr Yes, takes a short time to get used to the TrackIR use, but feels just fine after a bit.The ONE thing that WILL get me dizzy (sim flying or auto racing)is if the FPS drop slower than normal and my eye hand coordination gets off.. then I'm in for a right going over for sure if I don't stop it:-erks Love my TrackIR, makes a world of difference in FS enjoyment.
