  1. I thought by now someone would have some sort of answer to this question. Has anyone tried that XP hack to make the DX 10 type cards run in XP ?Terry
  2. I have a Radion HD 4650 video card and it is suppose to run at DX10.1 I am only running Windows XP o/s so that currently limits me to DX 9.0cIf I upgrade to Windows 7 which is a DX 11 o/s, will my video card now run at DX10?Terry
  3. It appears that I did not have SP1 and 2 for FSX. Only Sps for windows XP. The airrcaft now starts and the rest of the yellow bird appears. I think the reason I did not have SP1 and 2 loaded was on my old P-4 system, I had a lot of problems with them. Now with the new quad core it sems to run a little better. Thanks for all of the help.Terry
  4. Here are some pictures to show what the aircraft is looking like. (no gauges or wings on the yellow and no gauges on the other two..
  5. I have both SP1 and SP2 and "Negative" on the acceleration pack The aircraft folder is in the FSX aircraft folder and the three effects files are in the effects folder as per the install instructions..
  6. There is something wrong with the file. I only have a "Blank" instrument panel (no gauges/switches) ) and few if any other sub panels in the VC cockpit. also the yellow T-6 is only a fuselage and wing spare as viewed from outside the aircraft while the other two are complete aircraft except for the panel gauges. Also I am unable to open the file cab for the T-6 aircraft where as I can view any of the default panels file cabs to see what file are in there. Gauges etc)
  7. Thanks for answering. Is there any other program or file I need to have other than FSX and this T-6 aircraft file?Since this is ver 1.1 do I need Ver 1.0?Terry
  8. Well it looks like no one else has ether had any problems with this aircraft or has not down loaded it. Sure wish I knew how to get it started as the instructions in the read me file does not seem to work.Terry
  9. Has anyone dowmloaded this aircraft from the f AVSIM front page? Have you been able to get the aircraft/s started? Does the yellow version only load with a fusalage and no wings? My instrument panel has no markings on the gauges.I followed the readme file installation instructions and as mentioned above, nothing seems to work .Any ideas?Terry
  10. Thank you everyone for the help.I do not see the reason it is called a demo when you cannot do anything with it. I personally would not buy it even though I really like the old 727s. I would rather have a aircraft that flys right than looks pretty.Terry
  11. Has anyone loaded and flown the free 727 capt sim demo? If so how do you get the doors and panels closed? Also where are the instrument digits/pointers?I got the aircraft into the air but with the spoilers and flaps deployed it did not fly for very long. The self extraction loads the program/aircraft into the main FSX program. Is this where it should be going? I could not find any readme file or instructions.Any help is welcomedTerry
  12. I am looking to upgrade my 4:3 19" monitor to a newer 16:9 and want to know if a HD Tv would be able to give me a better bang for the buck.Is anyone out there using a TV for there FSX monitor?Terry
  13. Jon, From all that I have ever read in these forums, the video card is not the only thing that has a bearingon how many frames per second you see in a program. Especially with the FSX which is suppose to be veryCPU dependant. That means you better have a powerful chip/processor to get a lot of frames per second.Kind of like putting a piston engine on a airframe that was designed for jets. It might make the aircraft go but not the way itwas designed to.Where I saw my biggest gain was in the detail this new card could display over my older ATI 9800 pro. My old card had128 mb of ram and this 1 gig and of course a lot more computing power on the card. Also the old card, (4-5 years old) cost around$200 back then and this new one around $69.Bottom line is to buy as much computing power that you can for your budget and try and to match up CPU, Ram, and videocard so that they let the best and quickest amount of data flow in and out of the computer.Terry
  14. Ben, I too have that same video card after upgrading my old computer to a newer quad core chip. My old P-4 and 9800 pro systemmotherboard died so I had to do a upgrade or buy a new computer and that was not in the budget.I am still learning how to adjust the settings both on the card and in the FSX program. That is how I found your post. The level of detailand performance is light years from the real world AF sims I worked on in the 70s and 80s.I guess we will both have to keep an eye on this form to find out how to get the most out of this video card.Good luck with your real world flying at Mesaba. I looked into a dispatch job there about ten years ago and noticed those long polesattached to the fire hydrants. I guess they use them to find them in the snow or not to hit them while plowing the snow. Speaking of it was I think the first part of April when I was in MSP and they still had piles of snow on the edges of the ramp. So much for global warming.Terry
  15. I too thought I would try this X-Plane package from Wal-mart and I have yet to get it to load without some sort of error and if it does then it just will not run on my P-4 2.8 GHz machine. It is only 4 years old and still runs both FS 2004 and FSX great. In fact FSX now seems to run smoother than FS2004 after updating the ATI drivers to the last version (9.3.1) that ATI will support for my older ATI Radion 9800 Pro video card.Terry
  16. Thanks for the suggestions.I have run all of the dxdiag and passed with flying colors. Also when I update/reload drivers I completely remove all of the old ATI ones and install the new onesSounds like I might have a video card that is just too old to run this new game. I take it is a new game that has not been around for very long.Again thanks for the help.Terry
  17. Thanks for the response and ideas. My O/S is Windows XP-Pro with all of the current updates. The video drivers are as follows as per instructions directly from the ATI driver support site.Version 9.3.1 dated 2/3/09 yet it shows version 8.582.0 when I look at the driver info under the video card info section.Any customers using a combination of a ATI Radeon
  18. HiI am unable to run the newest version of XPlane-9 (9.3.1)It takes nearly two hours to load the first disk and when I try to run it, I get some system errors that says my video card is not a Open GL type. I have a ATI Radion 9800 Pro 128 Mb. The cpu is a P-4 2.8 and I have 1 gig of DDR400 memory.I have been talking to X-Plane cust service and they cannot figure this out either.Any ideas before sending back the software?TerryPS: Bought it at Wal-mart so hope it is a good copy.PPS: MS FS 9 and FSX both run well on my computer. 20=50 plus FPS
  19. I am glad to hear someone else has had a similar problem. What is strange is that initially, it would load from the DVD. Terry
  20. Finally, after months of trying to get FSX to re-load, I came across this link http://www.smartcomputing.com/editorial/ar...s09%2F55s09.aspwhich tells how to load certain Microsoft/ non Microsoft programs when you constantly get the Error 1335 code. After loading the entire two DVD disk files to the hard drive in the computer, I was able to re-install FSX. I also had to run the Windows Install Cleanup program too to get rid of the partial program files that the Windows XP Pro uninstall would not remove.I had been gone from FSX for so long I forgot how to switch between the 2D and 3D panels and it took me the better part of the night to figure that out all over again. Hopefully all of this work will be worth the effort. Thanks to all that gave me suggestions and advice on how to get the FSX to reload.Terry
  21. Update:I can install a "NON"- Microsoft program. (PIC 767) so I believe the hardware part of the computer (not a HP computer as thought above) is working OK. It has to be something in the Microsoft programing that is messing up the install. I can add too but not over the original Windows XP as I keep getting you have a newer version on the computer than the disc.Terry
  22. Jim,How do you do that? Is it the Disc Clean-up utility? If so I run the clean up part all the time but not the extended parts.Terry
  23. Jim, I installed the new Window Installer 3.1 V2 as per the link and still not able to load FSX. Still get the same msi messageTerry
  24. Jim,Thank you for responding and yes I can read the files on the DVD so I believe the mechanical part of it is OK. I have a sneaky feeling it might be something in my Windows XP Pro software. For a long time I could not use my HP printer because a file was missing. I finally figured out how to get the missing file off the printers disk and it works fine now.It has been several years since I have totally erased the hard drive so maybe it is time to do that again. I tried to correct/update with the Windows XP Pro disk but it would not allow this because the data on that disk is older than the current software on the computer. This is probably due to all of those service pack updates from MS.I hope this gives you a little more to work with.Terry
