New Setup for Flightsimulation ( P3D & FS2020 )

Featured Replies

Hello.

I´m planning to Setup a new Rig for P3D v4.5 and the upcoming FS2020.

The Flightsimulator will be used exclusively in VR ( Oculus Rift S ).

The PC itself will serve as a platform for Flightsimulators only, no other Applications will be run on this System.

Primary, the Simulator will be used in conjunction with PMDG 747 / FS2Crew / complex Scenery ( Airports ) / Active Sky / Ultimate Traffic 2, so basically in a classic Airliner-Environment.

At present, my System consists of the following Components:

i7 4770k

MSI Z45 Gaming

16GB RAM

Gigabyte 980ti 6GB VRAM

WIN10 1803

The Performance with the current System is kind of "ok", so my Intention is to significantly improve VR-Performance ( smoothness / fluidity ) with the upcoming System.

Currently, my initial Setup-Idea is as follows:

i9 9900k ( overclocking recommended? )

Appropriate Mainboard ( which one is advisable? Should have built in WLAN )

64GB RAM ( which Standard / Speed? )

Geforce 2080S 8GB VRAM ( is there an advisable Manufacturer? )

Appropriate Power-Supply ( how many Watts are recommendable? )

WIN10 1909

Would this System ensure a significant Performance boost compared to the current Setup?

Would it be worth to wait until the i9 10900k is released ( read somewhere that the single Core Performance is at best 4% faster / Problems with heating )?

Is a Geforce 2080 Ti worth the extraordinary Price-Tag?

Thanks very much for any Tips in Advance.

Best regards,

Toto

With the Z390 MB and the 9900K you have no upgrade path going forward, as for the temps the tests have shown the 10900K running about the same as 9900K or better but will draw more power.

I would look at the i7-10700K, which should give performance comparable to the 9900K in a 10th gen package without the cost of the 10900K.

Would you expect a considerable increase in VR-Performance with the above System?

The problem with VR is the same as SLI not main stream unless the developer is willing to add VR to the title, and even on steam less than 2% and implementing something in a game adds cost, this is born out by the VR only titles not a big sell.

I would ask on the VR forum from the few that have it.
