The flying lessons in FSX

Featured Replies

Are the lessons in FSX identical to those in FS9? If not what has changed?

Well, for one thing you can get a decent gliding lesson in FSX, with an aerotow, and the lesson itself is very good. Has a couple of minor operational procedures missing from it (safetywise) that I would be inclined to point out to someone using the lesson to transition to the real thing, but generally speaking it's pretty darn close to what you do for real.Since you'd probably pay half of the cost of the sim to have one for real, that in itself is worth the cost of the sim I suppose. Not tried many of the other lessons, so can't help you on those, but since gliding is 'my bag' in the real world, I checked the gliding one out from curiousity. Even if you aren't into gliders it'll help you appreciate what an air mass can do to an aircraft and make you aware of potential dangers, as gliding skill massively improves airmaship anyway. For me, thermals in the sim was a big plus to FS which I've waited a long time for.

The glider lesson is technically a mission. The old flying lessons are located in the learning center and haven't changed from FS9.Phil
