Flight Plan Question

Featured Replies

Hello All -

I do hope this question does not appear to be too stupid.

I use Prepared version 4.5 and fly mainly the commercial airliners such as PMDG 737 and Aerosoft Airbus.  I subscribe to Navigraph and use Simbrief to create my flight plans.

I will try to be simple in my question:    I know that Simbrief and Aerosoft Airbus have to be using the same and latest AIRAC data so that the navigational fixes are used by both of them.   But what should I do about using the flight planner inside of P3D?    Does this need to be updated as well - I assume it has to be since many of the fixes used by the aircraft and on simbrief's plan are missing in the P3D flight planner.   In order to use ATC in P3D, I set up a flight plan and found the many of the fixes used by the others were missing and this messes up the plan.     I guess my question is:   Should I be updating the AIRAC data into the sim as well as making sure Airbus and Simbrief are using the same data?    And if yes, how do I do this?    Or, should I not be using the flight planning system in P3D at all?

Sorry if this sounds confusing.   Thanks for any help.

If you have Navigraph and Simbrief combo, you don't need to use P3D flight planer. Not sure why would you need to after FP is already downloaded in NGXu. I am not sure about ATC in P3D...never used it. NGXu once you download your current AIRAC is valid for a month. Also make sure your Simbrief has current AIRAC unlocked. I think that's what you meant to ask....

The AIRAC Data, i.e., Navigational Aids, are outdated in P3dv4 and even v5. Therefore, I would recommend looking into FSAeroData. Here is the link: https://www.fsaerodata.com/. I know its an additional cost, but I sense that your a "perfectionist" like myself 🙂 I recommend sticking with SimBrief for creating and uploading flight plans.

I would still use simbrief to create your flightplan and upload them for use with the aircraft. If you are going to use p3d, use the download to FMS section in simbrief, save it as p3d/FSX .PLN file and import that into P3D flightplanner so that the ATC can use those current Nav Fixes.
