FS Live Traffic and FSX

Featured Replies

has anyone tried using AirNav Systems FS Live Traffic with FSX ? will it work ? there is no update on the AirNav Systems site, but before I try using it with FSX just curious if anyone has got it installed ...

Hi,I wrote to them a few days ago. Finally got a reply 2 days later. They will have a version of FSliveTraffic for FX, for purchase shortly.I really wanted to know if the current subscription we are paying will cover both FS9 and FS-X. It should!I still do not know the answer to that.I would not want to pay for two subscriptions to cover both MSFS products. And, it may be quite a while before FX catches up to FS9 on my machine.

thanks very much for the info .... yeah I certainly hope the AirNav FSX upgrade will be part of the FS9 subscription since there is no point in paying for both (especially since I can't see going back to FS9 for a lot of reasons). I'll keep my eye on the AirNav site in the coming days ...>Hi,>I wrote to them a few days ago. The AirNav site now has the FX version.I wrote to them to find out if the subscription for the current FS9 product includes their FX update.Or, will we have to pay an additional amount. They really do not explain their pricing (WEB PAGE info) or how it effects current customers.Anybody already find out how the pricing goes with their FS9/FSX update?

Yeah, the website tells you virtually nothing about the new product, only that it is available. I emailed and asked about FS9 and FSX subscriptions. The answer was that is you want both simultaneously, you will have to pay for both, however, if you wish to upgrade to the FSX version, it is complimentary. I also asked about what aircraft and airlines where included, and I received a lengthy, comprehensive response (which was very nice). The bottom line is it looks like they have more aircraft and airlines covered this time, and although it is still out of date or missing some liveries, it is a better effort than the FS9 version. Hey Brian, thank you for the info.Did they tell you what is the process to upgrade? I can't find any info in their website.Thank you

They did not, and I did not ask. I dont have FSX yet (patiently waiting for my free AVSIM copy from the conference). It looks like you can go to the buy section and go from there. Does not look like they have a demo for the FSX version yet.

AirNav has apparently teamed up with the MyTraffic team, which means that all AI models will be provided by MyTraffic, but the FAA real time data will be provided by AirNav. It comes at a rather steep price tag of $59 per 6 months. :-xYou can get either the version from AirNav or MyTrafficX v5.0b, but you'll still the subscription from AirNav, while the MyTrafficX version can also run in the traditional "emulation mode" for the rest of the world. At least that's how I understand it.I downloaded the MyTraffic update ysterday and a new icon "Air Nav FS Live Traffic X" popped up. It looks pretty, but it is a real fps hog. Every 10% of traffic seems to cost me about 2-3 fps on system (at 100%, FSX runs at 3fps here), so you can pretty much forget about a 100% setting anyway and ultra-realistic traffic.

Interesting about the My Traffic addition. In FS Live for FS9, if you are AI savy, you can switch the models out for the free stuff on the net that is frame rate friendly, and nicer looking.

I bought it for FS9 2 years ago and was impressed by it at first. But the pricing for the data is way too much, it has some flaws like many planes are at FL700, and many of the AI planes looks horrible. They never bothered to patch it so i think its the same this time around. And i have Mytraffic for FSX which is also full of errors, like no traffic at many airports, planes just pop up out of nowhere and dissapear again. Burkhard knew it was flawed but released it anyway to cash in being first with aitraffic addon.

Thanks for the pricing and other information.I have not received a reply to my most recent e-mail to them.Currently my AirNav subscription is $110/year for FS9.To use AirNav on FS9 and FSX ... $236/year.So, the upgrade price more than doubled.Personally, I will have to cancel my subscription and get a refund for unused subscription months in the current subscription cycle.Had I received a pricing reply from my e-mail to them in October 2006 I could have cancelled before the next payment cycle began November 2006!

Personally, I think that the current pricing is a tad to steep. Also keep in mind, that the traffic is not "really" live. From what I have seen and heard is that upon download of the FAA data, the system will position the planes at their current position at the time of the download, but the movement of the planes is calculated and depends on the downloaded flight plan. The planes will more or less "blindly" follow the filed flight plan, so over time the tracking of the planes will become more and more inaccurate, because the program will not continously download the latest aircraft positions. Don't take my work for granted, because I have been to cheap to subscribe, but that what I read from other users who tried it.Happy Holidays!

Ya,I asked them a long time back if I had to download their data more than once a day to have "current flights" information.I did not get a reply from them.I thought their software would take care of it with regular downloads during the day. But it does not.Anyway, their pricing ($236/year) for both FS9 and FSX is way to high.Basically, the "one" download you do is live data and the "same" data would be used no matter if you are currently flying FS9 or FSX.I feel this flights data download should be available for whatever you feel like flying today. FS9 or FSX.And IMO, the subscriber is paying for todays flight "data" download. They just need to put the data in the directories for FS9 and FSX. If I am wrong here let me know?

What I believe happens is that when you hit the "clean up history" button, it removes the duplicate flights so the same plane (flight number and to/from airports) is not caputured twice, otherwise, your airports would soon be overwhelmed with AI planes. I hope that when the history is cleaned, the "older" duplicate flight is removed, not the latest, but I am not sure. They would be much wiser if they made the original purchase price much cheaper, say $19 or so for the first six months, and if your hooked, charge something like $39 every six months after. Much more reasonable and worth it if you 1) Predominately fly in North America2) Are an AI junkie like me LOLAlso, what I think they are saying is that the upgrade is free is you switch you unsed portion of your FS9 subcription over to FSX, then continue the subscripton with FSX from that point. I have been examining the data they sent me about the aircraft models included.
