March 11, 200719 yr I used a pda for 2 years-primarily for xm weather-but it was quirky and I don't think I ever fully trusted it. Now have a Garmin 496 along with a tablet pc running fliteprep pro along with panel certified ifr gps's. If you know someone that works for Chrysler you can get a hefty discount on a 496-the reliability of the unit/features makes it a better way to go imho-not much more than a pda with software-the xm weather information is incredible.I did save my bacon once with a portable gps when my static system malfunctioned in imc-altimeter jumping +-1000 t. a minute plus a prop overspeed /autopilot gyrations at the same time.
