GTN750 Not powering off

Featured Replies

I have the GTN 750 installed in the TorqueSim BN-2B Islander and have been trying to set the power supply. Regardless of the power bus selected, the GTN 759 starts its power up when the selected bus (eg Avionics Bus) is switched on. However, it does not power down although the GTN 650 does. I have checked the related data ref which is toggling as expected.

Does the GTN 750 have a limited Operating time without power or is this a known problem?

Hi,

If both the 650 and 750 are set to the same power source option, they should both power up and down upon the same conditions.

It is even the same code running for both device models, so there shouldn't be any difference there.

Are you sure both are set to the same source?

Otherwise it can only mean the GTN trainer is stuck somehow. Can you try powering off, wait at least 5 secs, and prior closing everything get a look at the content of the RXP log files? (see user's manual for file/path)

Thank you for the reply. I was using the GTN 750 and the GNS 430 supplied with the TorqueSim Islander (not the GTN 650). The XP11.50 avionics bus dataref (sim/cockpit/electrical/avionics_power_on) appears to be permanently on. The GNS 430 switches on with the avionics switch (afm/islander/switches/avionics_power_on). It appears therefore that it is not possible to have the GTN 750 work with the other avionics on this aircraft.

It looks like they are using their own private avionics on "logic" independent of what the underlying X-Plane systems are set to.

You might want to try all the electric buses sources for the GTN instead of the 'avionics switch' source.

Thank you again. It does seem to be aircraft specific. I have raised the issue on their forum.

Do you mean there is not a single GTN Power Source option which is working with this aircraft? If so, this means the aircraft is not using the X-Plane electrical system at all and there is little we can do for this indeed.

I have raised the matter with TorqueSim. They replied that the avionics bus is permanently set on to address issues with their Islander. The GTN is fed power when the Battery Master is selected on. It is something they need to address.

I tried all GTN bus options and only Main Battery, Avionics Bus and Bus #1 work. All are controlled by the Islander Battery Master.
