October 22, 200619 yr Yes, X-Plane has many scenery deficiencies. Its strong point is mountain/country flying, while he's much weaker on urban areas.MarcoCuriously enough this is where X-Plane and FSX now come on par. Flying in urban areas in FSX now has to be stripped down (ex. autogen off, 15% ai, etc.) However, you can increase the sliders for bush flying in FSX.
October 22, 200619 yr Yes you need a new computer. Just not now put FSX away untill after the holidays. What till jan or feb. then buy you a nice computer that has a good cpu, lots of ram and a new DX10 card. Then reload FSX on that and have fun. Untill then you could try resizing your texures do some tweaks stay away from any big cities If you can find some really cheap ram for it like $25 for another 512 to put you up to 1gb that should hold you over.
October 22, 200619 yr I was talking about the X-Plane flight model. But if you would be willing to give X-Plane 8.5 half the time you gave FS-X with tweaking you might actually start to like it to! It takes some time to get to know the program.Tell you one thing. Starting in the KSBD demo area using high res texures is simply beautyful. The new Global scenery looks stunning and with some cheap 8 to 12 dollar add-on planes its getting to look a lot more competitive if X-plane keeps on inovating like this FS-XI will have some real competition.
October 22, 200619 yr I agre, new 'puter essential.I am at crossroads in that I probably have to upgrade HD, I want a 19" flat screen, and need to go USB 2. I have a HP Pavillion 2.4 with Gforce 5700 that is happy to run Fs9 with all add ons I wanted. So, I was looking at UK's PC World store today where they have Packard Bell Duo Core, Gforce 7300, 2MB Ram, 200GB HD and stunning Sony 19" flat screen, all for
October 23, 200619 yr Not home right now but I have a few examples on loan for you to give a more acurate impression of X-Plane 8.5 with (free) add-ons:http://homepage.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/marc.stoering/x850b.jpghttp://homepage.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/marc.stoering/x850a.jpghttp://homepage.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/marc.stoering/x850c.jpg
October 26, 200619 yr I have always stayed on the conservative side. I think I learned that way back with FS2K or so. I know I NEED 20FPS, I want more but...I keep the airports I know looking decent and live with the results. Pushing the envelope is not my style as I have old motorcycles and cars that last me by not pushing it. So it is with my old 'puter. Thanks, Len, for the reply. Keep the bushes growing...dolph
