October 23, 200619 yr No you do not need a flight plan. And you only need to get reasonably close to the parking spot--the jetways are fairly forgiving.But...You must have "advanced animations" turned on in the Display Settings dialog *AND* your video card must support Shader Model 2.0. The jetway animations were done using a technique that only works with SM 2.0 and above. (And, finally, even if your video card *says* it supports SM 2.0 some, like the nVidia FX5000 series, support it so poorly that we turn on that feature on those cards.) Hope that helps.
