Hey I'm not old and grey and I used FSASM!  I think it or SCASM had Pilot Controlled Lighting and other neat capabilities.  I don't remember it having parking stand systems though.

It would be a pleasant surprise to see VDGS or similar in there by default.

Nice, so I'm not the only one! 😅 Yeah I loved the PCL and all the other great stuff. Was really fun to play around with. The (FS) world was so simple back then! 😂

Guys, this sim has the bird migration, train timetables and Jovian moon ephemeris right...you can *** well bet that they will include full blown AGNIS at every airport! Azure will take care of you!

Haha, from your lips to God's ears...!

The rule? Maybe in Europe. But “bigger airports” make up a tiny portion of the total airports and your average airport with commercial traffic doesn’t have them.

The jetways comparison is a bad one. Distinguishing between jetways is easy via orthos given the system they use. You can see them from the top to annotate them. They’d have to have a human compile and analyze individual pictures of every commercial airport on earth to insert details like parking guidance congruently. Not possible.

Addons do lots of things. But ASOBO has enough to worry about fixing vs. trying to sort through 37000 airports and placing automated parking guidance for airliners where it should be when the majority of airports serving commercial traffic don’t have it. The addition of ground handling is already a step forward.

No point here. Yes, jetways also make up a tiny portion of airports if you take 37k into consideration and the majority of airports don't have them. Still they are there. Their humans already did go through all 37k airports. You do realize an airport consists of more than what you can see on an ortho, right? There are other sources they (must) use to model their infrastructure. Just speculating, but I'm pretty sure they are not looking at individual pictures outside of the iconic airports. And just as they won't get every line and light "congruently" right at every place on earth, they could very well place parking guidance systems, even if depending on the quality of the respective source they are not accurate in every single case. And if the source is good enough, it will be right in the sim. Very possible. They did it with a lot of other stuff too. Plus they made other things they didn't use themselves available via the SDK already in the past.

Actually, no their aren’t other sources they are using for default airports. They are literally looking at the ortho. That’s it.

Jetways are visible on an ortho, parking lighting isn’t. That’s the difference.

Regardless, as I’ve hinted at, parking guidance is by far the least of their worries with the heavies. Trust me.
