October 23, 200619 yr OK..I want to learn to become an ATC controller in FSX Multiplayer environment.I don't want to wing it. I am a real world pilot and I have a good idea of the phrases and what not from the Pilot side. But I would like to learn from the perspective of an ATC controller. Where do I start? Are there any tutorial or website I can dig into?Ideally I would like to provide for ATC services like Surveillance Radar Approach. Imagine that. This is something thats possible with mutiplayer in FSX. Otherwise its not possible. Not even with Radar Contact.I would like to practice Radar Approaches. I did one for real at Waco, TX. It was a riot. Thought, maybe I should provide for this service too.Any ideas where I can get started?Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
October 27, 200619 yr There are one or two books on the subject, if you fancy reading about it, including one published by Ian Allen which I believe has the imaginative title of UK Air Traffic Control.I have an old copy of it and I've seen it recently in a revised form too. It largely concentrates on the UK as you might imagine from the title, and has a lot of technical data on the processes involved, MATZ, Purple airspace and all that stuff, covering both domestic UK operations and going into some detail on clearing stuff for transatlantic flights too.Since the UK ATC system has changed quite a bit in recent years, I'd recommend buying the most recent edition if that interests you. VATSIM might be worth a look too, but VATSIM does tend to skip all the NOTAM type stuff and keep things a bit simple in comparison to the real world.
