GTN 750 over Network ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

can i install the GTN 750 on a second computer?

I have a touchscreen on my second computer and would like to operate the GTN 750 via the second computer and the touchscreen. Xplane is installed on another computer.

Is that possible ? if so how do I have to install that works?

Sorry for my bad English. Has been translated with Google

T his is the ultimate soloution for a lot of cockpit builders, having the software stand alone with the trainer on a separate pc. Reality XP have always used integrated products so I think a standalone option will only remain a dream

Hi,

This is not possible at this time, the GTN is running in-sim.

We're considering this option but I can't commit on this at this time.

Hi RXP,

I was searching for this very answer. I did see where this was asked back in 2018.  I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to run 3 monitors PLUS send the pop outs to touch screens with 3d printed bezels for the GTN's (650/750) from one PC. My GPU only has 3 display ports and my particular CPU doesn't have a dedicated GPU. Am I outta luck, any options? I don't really want to abandon my project, but I need to figure this out before I spend more money.

NM,I see now "I think" I can use a USB Multi display adapter for the GTN's. My other thought now is can both GTN pop outs be placed on one touch screen, or will it require two separate screens? I'd like to print my 650/750 bezels and then overlay those on 1 single touch screen if possible.

Thanks,

Mikemike

There is nothing precluding displaying and interacting with 2 GTN on the same monitor: this is exactly what anyone with a single monitor and popup windows is already doing with a mouse. The difference would be the touchscreen part, but in this case it is not directly related to the GTN plugin: it displays in XP11 managed windows, whether in-sim or popped out, and XP11 is managing the mouse and/or touch input for the plugin synthesizing the events as simple down, hold, release events at X,Y location. If there is any limitation it would most likely come from XP11 window/mouse interface in this case.

RXP,

I just purchased the 750 GTN. I'm going to wait on purchasing the 650 until I figure this all out, but I do have the 750 running in the sim=)

I appreciate that detailed and high tech reply. Unfortunately,  I'm not smart enough to understand it, haha.  I prefer to run 2 GTN's on the same touch screen at the same time, if possible.  This will make my overall parts, cost  and work less.

I'm currently searching for the screens to purchase, but I'm trying to determine if I need 1 or 2 screens ......but at this point I'm just winging it as I go.

Thanks,

Mikemike

You can use two 7XX devices at the same time with the GTN 750 product license and try out!

Yea, I think I'll keep searching the sim forums and confirm 2 GTN's on 1 touch screen (simultaneously) will work before I just "try it out."  Sorry, but I don't want to spend unnecessarily if I shouldn't.

Thanks,

Mike

Just thinking, could you run a second slave copy of Xplane on a second networked PC and run the GTN from that?  I don’t have a spare license to try, but would be interested to know if this would work.  I have a buddy who has XP on a Mac and wants to run GTNs on pop out, perhaps that’s a way to do it?

@uptimist1 I believe you could, the GTN would be running on 1 copy of XP11, would be interacting with it (autopilot, HSI, etc...).

Provided XP11 A communicates with XP11 B and exchanges/syncs all their internal datarefs, there is no reason this would be working. This won't make the GTN running on XP11 A displaying on XP11 B though.

Usually though you'd network multiple copies of XP11 so that you get 1 master handling the aircraft and its gauges, and N other XP11 for visuals only.

OK thanks, sounds worth experimenting with.

I don't know if you can experiment with XP11 demo version, but worth considering trying this option first in case it ends up not working like you'd like!
