August 17, 20205 yr Hello everyone. I've watched many many MFS2020 videos online and I've notice low res terrain mesh resolution closer to mountain areas. If any one can confirm the zoom level of date being download for NA region ? I hope it's a settings issue and this can be increased to match level 18 I've used with x plane 11+ ortho. Also it might be hard for Microsoft to allow high zoom levels data to be downloaded for everyone, maybe they can create an option to download a higher quality terrain for certain areas to be downloaded and stored locally on our machines. Thanks Evan
August 17, 20205 yr The issue of mesh has been, for some of us mountainous flyers, a worry throughout the development period looking at screenshots and trailers. You don’t want the Rockies to look like the Appalachians or the Alps like the Vosges. It seems that FS20 uses an excellent mesh in some places and coarser ones in some others, smoothing/rounding the peaks. FSX and P3D default mesh is not very good and we had third party developers like the Austrian company Pilot’s offering addons with a better one. But the terrain engine generates anomalies in some airports with a sharper mesh. I hope that the FS20 terrain engine will allow without difficulty to add a better mesh. Because it seems that, rather unfortunately, there is a need 😏. They said somewhere that the SDK will allow mesh editing. I hope it will allow mesh updates for larger regions in XP. i9-11900K, RTX 4090, 32 GB ram, Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, TCA Airbus sidestick and quadrant, Reverb G2
