Am I nieve or is there a problem?

I have now managed to purchase my copy of FSX Deluxe after being away from the flight sim community for some time. I have managed to install and activate with no issues at all however trying to run the software is a completely different story.I can't seem to get away from flashing planes and skyline, very choppy and at times totally unusable graphics. Baring in mind this is with sliders going almost as low as they go. This is very frustrating for me as I don't have what I'd call a low end machine and was wondering:a) Is anyone else experiencing such graphical woes.:( Is there away around it without spending more money on a newer graphics card?Specification of machine:Dell Dimension 4600 Pentium 4 - 3.06Ghz w/HT1.5 GB RAMATi 9800 256MB GraphicsWindows XP HomeAny help on this ASAP would be massivly appriciated!Kind regards,Adam Nardone

It shouldn't be that way. I found that I had to update the ATI drivers. Try the Cat 6.9's and see if that improves things ( www.ati.com ).Doug

I'm already on board with the latest Cat drivers. "This (in typical British fashion) is really starting to wind me up"...

Try deleting (or renaming) your FSX.cfg file and let FSX build a new one. You can find the FSX.cfg file under C:Documents and SettingsYour NameApplication DataMicrosoftFSXProbably won't help, but no harm in trying.

Tried but no joy... Thank you for posting.

Ran FSX on my PC yesterday just to see how it is, and it was a graphics nightmare (at some points it looked like bizarre figures of a caleidoscope).I'm more than disappointed, maybe I'll invest some time to tweak a bit (or wipe the thing off the disk again). But all I can say now is that I was perfectly right that a lot needs to be invested in new hardware.IMHO FSX is far from being ready for hardware at the moment. Imagine a PMDG A320 should run on it one day, I guess FPS will drop to 2 or 3 then even on a "power machine"...Andreas
