August 19, 20205 yr Does any one knows how to convert/import flight plans generated in SkyVector (*.fpl) to a format that could be read by the Sim? Joel Strikovsky

August 20, 20205 yr Hiya, Here's the folder where you drop/drag/paste made flight plans to C:\Users\Ant\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState That's my directory, obviously i bet your pc isn't named Ant so ammend I use SimBrief an online flight planner, for this sim FSX works, default option for me choosing FSX is it saves as a .PLN (caps to show letters better here) Easiest way for you to get a shortcut for the folder or to just find it is this ......... Fire sim up, go choose a plane and make a quick n dirty departure and arrival plan, click Save, after saving, then click Load, the folder/box pops up and you should see your just made .PLN , so that's folder location you place your imported .PLN's into So make a shortcut to that folder and voila, create .PLN's and slap em in there Hope that makes sense Have Fun Tony Edit : If you're not using C drive, just have a look around until you find your newly make .PLN Edited August 20, 20205 yr by Defiance_co added text
August 20, 20205 yr Author but my question was not on SimBrief nor *.PLN files... I asked about Skyvector exported files (*.FPL) on how can i use them (maybe need to convert them 1st) in the SIM. Edited August 20, 20205 yr by Akila Joel Strikovsky
August 20, 20205 yr SkyVector Converter https://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxutil&DLID=199360 Not tried it myself Tony
January 4, 20215 yr I've tried using this conversion tool. It only gives options for FSX and FS9 conversion. I tried using the conversion to FSX flight plan file, but MSFS seems to be having difficulty reading it. I would have thought they would be the same. It successfully creates a plan in ".pln" format, however it loses one of the waypoints in translation and shows the departure airport as both departure and arrival when loaded into a plane in MSFS. (I'm using the C208 with the Garmin1000.) Anyone else have a workaround? It is a pain to manually enter a fp while in the plane, and problematic if you try to do it from the MSFS main menu screen (sometimes doesn't do the routing correctly when adding waypoints to the FP.

You can try loading it in little nav map, then exporting as msfs format
January 4, 20215 yr Thanks for the suggestion. Not a bad way to go, however I watched the video on that option and it seems like there is quite a bit of manual intervention - such as copying the link, removing certain portions of the link, changing others to spaces instead of the original char. Just seems like allot of work to get a conversion. If I'm going to go to that much trouble, I'll just try my luck at entering it manually in MSFS, or as a last resort, enter it manually in the plane. With the convenience of creating flight plans in Skyvector, I would have thought someone would have come up with a simple conversion program, or possibly that Skyvector would include an option to output a "PLN" version.
