Mouse Focus Causing Serious Issues

Featured Replies

One of my biggest gripes about the sim is an apparently design decision that we need to elevate as there is absolutely no good reason for it to exist and it causes major problems. Take a moment and move your mouse to any windows that you have open other than the main cockpit view, like the ATC, the Virtual Map or the Checklist and while the mouse is there try to control the aircraft with the yoke, your rudder pedals, etc. You'll find that all controls are frozen. Worse, the things you're doing are being cached and then quickly fired off when you move the mouse back into the cockpit area. This has caused me to have countless problems. If you try to use ATC while moving, perhaps while climbing, the plane will suddenly dive back to the ground as the yoke is ignored. If you're taxiing and use the ATC or checklist (with the mouse) you can easily just roll right off the taxiway and not realize why.

I also just realized that Asobo likely uses keypad entries to mainly interact with something like ATC so they wouldn't see this much, but new users won't do that. There is absolutely NO supportable reason for why this is happening and it's an easy fix. While looking at those items everything should still work. As we move forward many other utilities and add-ons will need us to use the mouse to interact with their features and the plane will effectively become uncontrollable. This needs to get fixed.

I knew the window issues you mentioned. The weird "event" caching is new to me. Good to know. Hope they get it fixed. I use 3 monitors, but only the curved central one to display the sim.

You'll find out about the caching when you switch back. I swear this is causing a percentage of the reports that people think are the autopilot. Why? When this happens you get a bit frantic. Say you're looking at the map. Nothing big. Then you notice something outside with AP on. You go and check it out. You then notice nothing is working. You turn off and on AP, you try a series of things. NOTHING. You move the yoke. You try switches. Nothing. Then you move the mouse and all 38 things you did happen in 2 seconds. That's going to look insane to the user without realizing what just happened. I cannot fathom what they were thinking on this one.
