August 23, 20205 yr I’m going to guess you’ve had quite a few new members since MSFS? I'm another... I used to fly quite a lot of MSFS about 25? 30? years ago. It was really just casual, with a cheap joystick with a slider for throttle, and keyboard for yaw, but I enjoyed it. I stopped because of time constraints. A few years ago I thought about trying flight sims again and bought a couple of issues of PC Pilot... but I couldn’t understand any of it. I couldn’t even really figure out what software was available. So when I heard that MS were getting back into it, thought it might be a good opportunity to try something a bit more accessible. Over the course of the last few months, I’ve finally figured what P3D and others are, and PC Pilot is starting to make more sense. Yesterday I installed MSFS from there online thing, where it only costs £1 for the first month, to see if I can get back into it. I gave it a quick whirl trying to use the keyboard for control... and immediately tried to buy a joystick. But it seems there isn’t a single one available in the entire UK! So I’ll probably spend my cheap introductory month unable to fly, reading these forums and waiting for delivery... after make a decision on what to put on back order.
