787 elevator trim?

Featured Replies

Hey... has anyone else noticed the 787 elevator trim a) seems to do nothing and b) changes by itself?  I can run it end to end and see the elevator move on external camera views, but it doesn't seem to change the actual trim of the plane at all.

Re "b" the first time I observed it I thought it was because the AP was on (in spite of turning it off I could not deselect altitude hold mode) but I just tried again and nothing was lit up on the AP panel at all, yet at times the trim would change by itself (and not when you might expect it to for some kind of envelope protection, this is at "normal" airspeeds, AoA's, and bank angles).

I noticed the 787 is a default aircraft and it behaves as such: Poorly.

Well, I have had some luck getting it to do some things... once I figured out how to use it!  It sure would be nice if there were some instructions in the program to get you going on at least the basics.  And that goes for all the aircraft... except maybe the ones without autopilots. 🤪
