Autotuning off: how?

Recommended Posts

Guest

I remember from long ago there was an option to turn off autotuning of radio's and transponders, etc. I can't find the option in FS X. I don't want everything to be tuned right away when I aknowledge something: I want to enter everything manually. Is that still possible?

Manually enter before responding, I don't recall there ever being an option that could be selected to turn off the autotuning.

>Manually enter before responding, I don't recall there ever>being an option that could be selected to turn off the>autotuning. That's how I do it but quit often ATC tells me to acknowledge the message before (for instance) I had the chance to enter the transponder code. I want to say yes and then do it (like you do IRL, I guess). When I have to go to another controller it's indeed quit easy because you can take all the time you want. But in that case I wish the option to tune in automatically wasn't there at all: I wish I immediately had the option to contact the new controller (which would result in an error if I did that before I entered the right freq). I would feel more realistic imho...>I remember having seen that option too!>>But thats quite some time ago!Ah, luckily I'm not the only one who remembers such a setting. ;) It must have been quit some time ago indeed.

I think this is what you're looking for ;-)http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837881When you acknowledge a hand off, the radio won't change unless you hit the appropriate keys on the ATC window. You can acknowledge the hand off, go to the radio stack, enter in the new frequency then hit the ATC open window key and hit the appropriate number. (i.e. 1) contact ground 2) contact Tower etc)Mike

Thx, that's how I already do it. ;) What I really want is NO option to tune to another frequency. I know I can skip it by doing it manually but I'd rather have the option removed altogether. But I guess that's not possible. In the end (come to think of it) it's no big problem, apart from the squawk code, which (on the G1000) takes some more time to enter and which always results in a 'please acknowledge last transmission' message. I guess I better have the G1000 ready and waiting for the input of the squawk code just before I file my flightplan. ;) It's just something I would like to be able to do (remove the autotune option) but it's no real big deal. ;)
