Workaround for TrackIR "snap back after 6 seconds" issue

Featured Replies

Currently, when you pause TrackIR (via joystick button assigned to "Pause" action in TrackIR software), the view stays as it was for ca. 6 seconds, the snaps back to the default view. It's annoying if you paused TrackIR when looking at particular instrument to change settings.

The workaround (inspired by the other users of this forum):

SETUP:

I. Assign a button (let's call it "A-button") to pause action in TrackIR software.

II. Assign to the same ("A-button") in the sim - "Save custom view 0" command (it can be any number 0-9).

III. Assign to any other button (let's call it "B-button") in the sim - "Load custom view 0" command (it can be any number 0-9, but the same as in the step II).

USAGE:

1. Use TrackIR to look at the instrument or any other thing you need.

2. Press "A-button" - it will pasue TrackIR and save custom view 0 (to be used later).

3. Press "A-button" again (within the 6 seconds limit, 2 presses in a sequence) - it will unpause TrackIR and again save the same custom view 0 you need (to be used later).

4. Press "B-button" (with TrackIR working normally, unpaused) - you will access the saved view.

5. Press "B-button" again (with TrackIR working normally, unpaused) - you will return to you normal view with TrackIR.

While the TrackIR support in MSF 2020 is definitely broken and the steps above are just a workaround, it provides advantage of easily returining to the saved view, without the need to reposition and pause TrackIR on the same view again (by repeating steps 4 and 5).

If you need new view - repeat steps 1-3.

I use Track IR and found it simple to set up. I downloaded TR MSFS from the web site, opened Track Ir on my desk top and just made a new profile for it. I used two buttons on my X-55 throttle controller and everything worked fine from the start.

Ok. That has nothing to do with OP's suggestion for a specific issue, though.
