In-flight weather report

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to get an accurate in-flight report of the actual weather in the sim?

With live weather, you can't get any weather info from the sim and external software like Simtoolkitpro shows real world weather, which isn't always the same as live weather in the sim.

In my FS2004 days I used a program called FSdat for this.

Flightsim rig:
CPU: AMD 5900x  | Mobo: MSI X570 MEG Unify | RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo | GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3090 | Storage: M.2 (2 & 4 TB) | PSU: Corsair RM850x | Case: Fractal Define 7 XL
Display: Acer Predator x34 3440x1440 | Speakers: Logitech Z906
Controllers: Fulcrum One Yoke | MFG Crosswind v2 pedals | Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant |Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant | Stream Deck XL & Plus | TrackIR 5 Tobii eye tracking

Little Navmap can show weather data loaded from the sim.   I'm sure a fair number of the other EFBs can, too.

I tried Little Navmap. It did show icing, but for the weather data to show up it keeps telling me to enter an ICAO. Unfortunately, since it doesn't understand the MSFS scenery (yet), it can't find any ICAO code I enter. Perhaps it's me and I just have to learn how to use Little Navmap, since I've never used it before.

Ah.  Yeah, it'll show you the wind speed and direction when you're airborne, but if you want more than that and don't have a scenery library loaded it might be of limited use.  😞   Do you have a Navigraph subscription or another sim's scenery you can load?

I just loaded the sim with LNM running and started a flight away from an airport.   If you show your aircraft information you do get a window with wind info, air temperature, pressure, conditions, and visibility.  No info on cloud cover, thoulgh.

I have a navigraph sub. How can I use that to check the weather at an airport?

You can't use it directly, but if you load the Navigraph data into LNM there's a menu option to tell it to use Navigraph for *all* information.   It won't give you full scenery information, but it will at least populate your airport locations so you can search for ICAOs and give it a location to tie weather information to.

Thanks. I don't have a Navigraph subscription yet. I could install FSX again and try to get LNM to use its scenery data.
