November 6, 200619 yr I have tried the FSX demo and am disappointed to see that they still haven't modelled the sound of a Constant Speed Prop plane (such as the Baron, Mooney, Extra) properly. The engine frequency is still linked to power, rather than RPM. I would have thought this is a basic thing which would have been easy to fix. And am I the only one who finds this annoying?
November 6, 200619 yr Yes-I am disappointed about this too.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 6, 200619 yr Moderator Ah, but it can be done! For proof, see:Filename: spartan.zipLicense: FreewareAdded: 21st January 2006Downloads: 11652Author: Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas, and Urs BurkhardtThe "prop sound" varies with CS prop pitch, not engine rpm... ;)It's "simply" a matter of proper FDE and sound design. If Milton & Co. can do it, anyone can! :-beerchug Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 6, 200619 yr Yeah-I need it on the Baron-I hope someone can! :-jumpyIt seems with such great improvements to the default aircraft in the version this would have been included as it is pretty basic..http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 6, 200619 yr Hi Bill,If so, I'm delighted.I don't have FS to hand at the moment so can't look at the freeware you mention. Just wondering is it for a turboprop or piston? Reason I ask is that I have tweaked my Caravan to link prop sound to prop and jet whine sound to the engine, but didn't know how/if it could be done for piston airplanes.Thanks.
