October 10, 20205 yr Took the a320 from KSBA to KSMF last night with the CCR2 arrival and RNAV 17R Y approach. I used the sim's flight planner to set it up and it showed the path looping around the west side of the airport and lining up to the runway on almost the same path as the ILS 17R. The RNAV Z was a very short approach so I didn't want to use it. The ATC cleared me to an innitial fix that was not only not on any of the real charts, but also not part of the approach as per the map planning screen. I.e. this fix was on the East side of the airport like one you might use on a 17L approach instead. I ended up ignoring approach control after that and just continued the programmed approach and landed while they yelled at me that I was 400 ft below altitude lol. Ugh. Not sure how I would have fixed that other than do a direct to and then hope it didn't blow up the flight plan in the MCDU. October 10, 20205 yr Has run me into mountains, only lists visual approaches on IFR flights, etc. etc. Ridiculous. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.
October 10, 20205 yr ATC is incredibly stupid with approaches. Flew the A320 into Gibraltar this morning. 5 miles from the runway it still had me at 9,000 feet. Really? Do they think I'm flying a dive-bomber? Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light
