October 25, 20205 yr Co-pilot read back not working properly. "Co-pilot Options" - Both the Responds To Radio Btn and Changes Frequencies are ticked. "Btns settings" - PTT Yoke Btn enabled. After the third ATC message and the co-pilot's read back message response, the co-pilot does not respond to any further messages from ATC. The two boxes in Co-pilot Options are now showing unticked. In Speech Output Devices tried all selections receiving similar behaviour. The only one that works to some degree, is Realtek Digital Output (Realtek(R) Audio), but after the first co-pilot read back the co-pilot function stops. Any help would be most appreciated. Also please be aware of Microsoft 2004 update, turned my flight sim into "Annus horriibilis.", still trying to put the pieces together.
October 25, 20205 yr Commercial Member This sound like you have the "Responds To Radio" Button or Hot Key set and when you press that button or hot key, your "Copilot Responds to Radio" setting is flipping. On the Speech Tab, Disable the HotKey and Button by unchecking the "Enable" options. Dave
October 26, 20205 yr Author Hi Dave! I have unticked the Hot key The two co-pilot boxes are ticked. After selecting the Atis, it only speaks once, does not continue. After speaking to GND no voice read back or co-pilot voices can be heard. Robert Ps. I'm new to using a Forum, is there away I can get a picture of the Speech settings to you? October 26, 20205 yr Commercial Member If you're not hearing ATIS, this is another issue. Most likely a Windows sound setting. Be sure you have the headset set up as the default audio output and also that it is NOT set as the Communications output/input at the same time. Also, be sure the Communications tab of Sound setup has "Do Nothing" set as the action. To show images, you have to upload the image to a server like OneDrive or Dropbox and then paste the link to it. Or you can just email at [email protected] to me when troubleshooting. Dave
October 27, 20205 yr Author Thanks Dave. You read my mind about headset settings. I brought a new set and was thinking it might be a driver issue. Will look into settings as per advice and will send pictures via admin. Robert
October 28, 20205 yr Dave, I am having the exact same issues with the copilot no longer responding. I have changed nothing lately, and my settings are exactly as you described above. This just started happening a couple days ago. My machine is still running Windows 1909, so I haven't experienced anything regarding the latest update. Here is a link to the latest log file for you to look over as I don't see where to upload here (if allowed). P2A_2020_Trace_File2.log
October 28, 20205 yr Author Hi Dave While going through your excellent help notes and checking those settings that you alluded to, I realized that MSI B550 motherboard audio jacks had to be the problem. I then plugged the headsets from motherboard jacks into the front computer head jacks. Immediately they were recognized, and from thereon they worked. Tested headsets in the Flight sim with P2A a number of times and they worked faultlessly. In the "Speech Output Devices," only one setting would work, i.e., "Primary Sound Driver." If I selected the headset itself it would not work. At the time of writing, in Australia many are experiencing computer sound problems due to a Microsoft update that has gone wrong (AGAIN!!!). To get sound to work with headsets connected to the back of computer, maybe I need to look at updating MSI drivers and Microsoft updates? Dave, I can't thank you enough for your support and if you are ever in Sydney Australia, let me know and I will shout you lunch at one of Sydney's finest Harbourside restaurants - provided you share a wee drop of Scotland's finest. Cheers Mate. Robert the Bruce Ps. Emailing a letter to you that is to be addressed to the flight sim community about Microsoft.
