I'd read somewhere that the Bing maps used in the sim were quite out of date, and I suddenly thought maybe Candlestick Park might still be there outside SF. It was torn down a while back, and then the planned new offices were scrapped and I believe it's just a building site/open space right now. Orbx's TrueEarth has got the office development that never happened, but the stadium is gone from the sims generally. Not that I'm a big baseball (I assume) fan, but I do like a nice stadium in the sim, plus more importantly, it was the site of the last ever Beatles live appearance back in the day.

So I went looking, and it was there. Took a few shots so I've got a record for when it disappears once Bing gets its imagery up to date.

Doesn't look like the grass has been mowed since the boys were there.

So, not just a sim, but a time machine too!

It does look a bit like that, doesn't it? But it might also just be the effect of getting too close with the photogrammetry. I'd seen someone here saying parts of the Bing imagery were up to 17 years old - no idea if that's true but a bit sad if it is.
