Alternate destination and fuel report.

Featured Replies

Hello, first of all, thank you for this software that has become indispensable for many years.

I'm using version 2.6.4 beta on MSFS.

When I create a flight plan with an alternate airport for the arrival, the software creates a direct leg between the arrival airport and the alternate.

As a consequence, the fuel report calculation is wrong, because it does not take into account the route from the destination to the alternate airport! it takes into account a direct route.

I would like to be able to enter a flight plan this way for example:

EBLG LNO7S LNO LNO4A EBBR / EBBR CIV4C CIV Y50 MATIX MATIX9J LFPG

departure: EBLG
departure SID: LNO7S
destination STAR: LNO4A
destination: EBBR
alternate: LFPG
route to alternate with SID and STAR: CIV4C CIV Y50 MATIX MATIX9J

Except that it is not possible, the only possible writing in LNM is:

EBLG LNO7S LNO EBBR CIV Y50 MATIX MATIX9J LFPG

Except that then LFPG is considered as a destination and not as an alternative...
But the fuel calculation is then more accurate, it just lacks the star and the approach of EBBR but impossible to include it since LNM considers that EBBR is only a crossing point.

In short I would like that when we declare an airport as alternate, we can include the whole route including the arrival procedures.
-fuel calculation would then be complete.
-the use of the alternative route in case of need would be simpler.

Thank you.

I understand, it's just a pity because the implementation of fuel calculation based on live data of each aircraft is just a small technical feat! Unique it seems to me in planning software.

In the distant future maybe.

Anyway every new addition to your software will always be welcomed with joy!

For planning purposes a straight line from destination may be issues but you as pic has the last say in how much fuel is put on your aircraft.

Depending on the size of aircraft - fuel burn per hour, distance and most important altitude to be flown along with a possible head or tail wind factors adding 20 to 30 p/cent on top what is estimated for the fuel burn to the alternate should be a good starting point.
