Yikes! Bits of canopy embedded in his skin from ejecting through the canopy.

Flight control system got so overloaded it pitched down when pilot was pitching up. Behaving in a way they hadn't seen before.

The comparison thats going to be drawn is with the Boeing MCAS issue.
