December 9, 20205 yr Hi all, I am trying to find pics/dimensions for a DC3 throttle build. Especially the side view showing the actual length. I have many straight-on cockpit pics, but no side view shots. Any suggestions? Cheers, skyflyerblue
December 9, 20205 yr Well, you could go and measure the real thing at a museum if there is one near to you, but if you can't do that, then you could always try this: Watch movie The Wild Geese from about the two hour mark onwards (i.e. near the end) and you get quite a few shots of Roger Moore playing with the levers as one of the engines runs out of fuel, since you can see his hand in the shots and see the arc of movement, You should be able to take a good stab at working out the length of the levers from that by using the old artist's drawing technique of multiplying the size of something known (i.e. the diameter of the plastic knobs on the ends of the control levers) by how many times that dimension fits in the length of lever you can see. It would help if you had the movie on DVD (and if not, why not? because it is great!) but if you haven't, here is an (unfortunately) very low res copy of it on youtube - FFW to about timestamp 2:03 for shots of the throttle quadrant with a hand moving them to help you gauge the size of the levers: Then cross-reference that with the side shot of the throttle at this link: http://www.douglasdc3.com/dc3compare/dc3compare.htm Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
