Win10 Pro - Install Issues - Is It Possible to Have Two OS

Featured Replies

So I "tried" to make the plunge to Win10.

I have Win7 Pro, I got the downloader and it recognized the "pro" version and installed Win10 Pro.

Three "other than flightsim" programs were deleted due to incompatibilities, not really and issue.

Right out of the gate I had major issues.

1. Launch to black screen issue, documented very well already.

2. My MS Outlook had issues, Firefox was made non working.

3. The all important "Settings" app did not work, everything was greyed out, which makes the system pretty much useless.

I went into safe mode and tried fixes.

I managed to get out of black screen and fix firefox and outlook.

I failed to resolve black screen launch after trying 5 online solutions and failed to get "settings" app working.

I GAVE UP after spending 24 hrs fixing.  I have too much at stake to screw up my current setup, considerably more that flightsim applications.

So, I had a successful restore back to Win7 Pro, of that I am totally relieved.

NOW MY QUESTION(S)

1. Can I partition (and I don't know how) my C Drive and have a Win7 AND Win10 bootup option?

2. Can I get a copy of Win10 on a separate HD that I can swap out with my regular C HD that will recognize to run in Win10?

3. And can I put all my data for flying in MSFS on another large 8 TB drive so that it I can call on it while flying under a launch of that sim when using Win10 under my proposal above?

Grateful for any insight into this.

My research is suggesting that a dual boot system is possible.

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=how+to+set+up+a+dual+boot+win7+and+win10#kpvalbx=_YGrUX4C4HcXz-gTtz6TQBg17

I guess the only other bit is whether I can run MSFS and store data as required by the sim and collect addon's and have them installed on another drive?

While I have an up to date Laptop for portability, my PC is the main workhorse for me.

I'm sure that outlook from my now dated Win7 pro system will be relegated to the dust bin down the line but it isn't broke yet.

All's fine for now with my Win7 Pro all my productivity and utility programs function extremely well.

I am interested only in running or trying out MSFS  and I have the latest XP11.5+ which has been rewritten to benefit from Vulcan and Metal and benefits from new Win10 DirectX....so I'm interested to see what that might do for me in terms of simming.
