Wobbly heat haze look to the outside world

Featured Replies

Evrything outside of the cockpit looks kind of like I'm looking through a slight heat haze and wobbles around a bit. Inside the cockpit everything is fine.

Not yet sure if this is just an Oculus reprojection side effect.

Actually it's affecting everything in and out of cockpit.

I've tried with ASW off and Steam motion smoothing off (though not sure this actually has any effect on oculus) but it's still present. Maybe its a bug with the current OpenXR Oculus system.

Does anyone else see it?

I think you're talking about what I call "the shimmers". Mainly observable with bright lines at certain angles? It's much reduced for me in MSFS as long as I'm using TAA for anti-aliasing, the other anti-aliasing options make it much worse.

i know what you mean with the aliasing shimmers. I can't fly without TAA on as every other option looks awful imho.   However, with this it looks like the picture is being projected onto water that's moving around.

Hmmm. No, I'm definitely not seeing that. Image looks very steady in the cockpit and the not-so-distant views outside the cockpit.

Sorted.

Control + Num Pad 1 while flying now does the trick.

For some reason previously the numpad 1 - 4 keys for ASW etc didn't work (checked numlock key), nor did changing it in debug tool / Tray Tool?

I wonder if there's been a small silent MSFS patch?

It changes the Oculus ASW modes (different reprojection types) but I'm not sure which is which
