Cockpit distortion quest 1 in steam vr

Featured Replies

Hi all brought msfs 2020 at the msstore and finally have VR working with steam vr using quest 1 via link cablr but when I move the headset left or right the cockpit seems to distort, have changed all setting in steam VR settings but problem persists. I'm trying to use steam because I want to bring documents into the cockpit with steam ovr application don't think I can do that if I use the oculus VR driver, any body solved the distortion issue with quest 1 using steam VR thanks

Yes I did too.

Follow steps here to fix it and improve fps a little. It's in two parts.

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018555179-How-to-install-OpenXR-

Go to the Oculus App on your PC and toggle "Public Test Channel" on / off / on which may trigger an update if it wasn't already installed. This adds OpenXR to your Oculus App

Use right control + num pad 1 key to disable ASW for less jelly / heat haze look

From what I'm reading so far, none of us Quest 1 (and probably 2) users can achieve over about 25fps at this stage regardless of graphics settings. It may be intentionally limited even though your PC may have ample grunt to achieve more.

thanks yes I did have this working but playing around with Steam VR as I would really like to be able to access a windows inside VR for a flight plan etc. I was going to use OVR toolkit to bring the window into MSFS 2020 cockpit but I dont think it will work with Oculus as you need to be in the steam environment. It definitely runs better with Open XR than it does it Steam VR though, cheers

Ahh, sorry - yep i see your point. I think there may be a way to do it with Oculus.  I had similar thing working that way in XP11 beta.

If you haven't tried it yet, Ignore that he says only works in Rift

I wonder if this is somehow related to the problem I have with the Oculus Rift - though in my case it’s not so much distortion as the fact that the cockpit moves as I move left or right, forwards or backwards. I can’t move relative to the cockpit in other words. Outside views are fine however - and I can rotate my head relative to the cockpit.

I have downloaded the Oculus Beta updates and don’t use Steam VR. I think I tried switching off ASW but might try again using the numpad 1 method.

Refuses to work for quest 1, all is fine inside rift home when link enabled but as soon as msfs running becomes all strange stuttering with an hour glass so impossible to import a window in the Sim, pity quest and link are not the best with the Sim, as soon as the Sim is window is maximised it kills the rift home environment ?

With a bit of patience, I was finally able to bring a browser window in and resize it, but you are right that it's very very glitchy. It's definitely not working right.
