November 29, 200619 yr I think for some out there its, Give us your money now and we will figure it out later. One had the balls to charge for an update that proclaimed you could at least fly the plane in FSX but nothing worked in the vc or any new fsx features. The only thing that Im sure will work is my credit card being billed.Do not support any of these developers trying to make a quick buck spewing out unfinished, rehashed fs9 planes.
November 29, 200619 yr Actually, FS2000 gauges work fine, it is the FS98 gauges which FSX spits out. If your plane uses FS98 gauges, you'll have to find replacements and edit the panel.cfg file. While taxi lights and landing lights are not working (bug? or change in design code so old method is unsupported?), it seems most other things are working. To convert a plane over, just move the plane over from FS9Aircraft to ...FSXSimObjectsAirplanes (or create another directory and call it out in your FSX.cfg file (self-explanatory)), and the gauges and effects over to their respective directories in FSX. Then, as long as it used standard FS design methods, it should work. The planes that aren't working, and there do seem to be varying reports on working/not working for several planes (for example, many people have the Dreamfleet Baron working, but for me it crashes FSX. But I think it is a licensing issue and I just have to reinstall again.), typically are calling external routines/hacks.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
November 29, 200619 yr HiI too would be very careful about the words "FSX Compatible". I recently asked a 3rd party developer in detail about this and they basically said that this type of information was between developers only. So just read between the lines. Most are still coming up to speed and even though it may work, many of these converted offerings do not take advantage of FSX as it was meant to be. They are trying to make a buck and I dont blame anyone for trying, but I think that there needs to be some honesty and disclosure of what exactly does "FSX compatibility" really mean? The public has a right to know.I think if the offering still contains FS9 code that is not "FSX Navive code" in the form of backward compatibility, this backward compatibility may have it's own inherent issues, including functionality loss, performance loss and the like but still flyable. Just be careful. I think because of this, many developers will be working on other offerings in the way of scenery, landclass or utility type add-ins for FSX until the mess is straigtened out with ACES.RegardsBob
