Flight 1 PC-12 Addon-Will it Work in FSX?

Featured Replies

I used the advice on installing the Flight 1 PC-12 into FSX and most of the virtual cockpit has shown up. The only problems is that most of the digital readouts such as the altimeter, radios, etc do not have the digital numbers. I made a backup of the gauges folder and then copied over my FS9 folder, but that did not solve the problem.Has anyone been able to get the PC-12 to work in FSX? Any help is greatly appreciated.Dreamflyer

You probably need to install the font manually.Allcott

Is there a location for special fonts? Do I just look under the main windows font area or does FSX have a specific location for fonts? Thanks for the help.

Where did you get tips on installing it?? Craig

CraigI found the following in the post about Addons that work, Page 8. Attached is Dave's advice: #375671, "RE: Reporting Back"In response to Reply # 25 >This instruction should work with FlightOne aircrafts which>use the FlightOne wrapper puchase module.>>Install one aircraft at a time.>>1. Rename the 'Texture' directory to something like>'Texture.Original'>2. Install your F1 aircraft with the original download and>designate 'Microsoft Flight Simulator X' or whatever name you>used for FSX as the root target directory.>3. The installation will create directories "Aircraft" and>"Texture".>4. Move the folder (or folders if there are more than one>variant of the aircraft) containing your aircraft to>'SimObjectsAirplanes'>5. Copy everything from the 'Texture' folder in the root of>FSX to the 'Texture' (or 'Texture.xxx' where xxx is name of>the variant) folder of your aircraft FOR each variant.>6. Delete the 'Texture' folder under FSX>7. Goto back to step 2 for the next aircraft.>>8. When finish with all you F1 aircraft, delete the 'Texture>folder' under FSX, and rename 'Texture.Original' back to>'Texture'>Does that include the Level-D 763?>Hope this works out for you simmers.>Dave T. .........On the Devon Riviera and active member of the Ipplepen Flightsim club.

I just tried to install the F1 PC12 in FSX. The first time I tried I omitted to capture the base textures so I had a VC without all black textures but the radio numbers and other instument indicators were present. Having discoverd my mistake with the textures I went back to a restore point and re-installed the aircraft capturing the base textures into a dummy texture folder. Now I have the VC textures but no digits in the radio altitude pre-selecter etc. This is just so damnably tittilating, so near and yet so far. As the F1 PC12 is one of my favourite aircraft (mainly because it can be totally operated from the VC) I have gone into hair pulling mode in a big way. I know the fonts are installed, I just cannot get them to show. This is one wall I would very much like to push over. Has anyone tried using a FSX.CFG Simobjects line to point to an FS9/Aircraft folder?John

It might be prudent to wait until Flight1 releases the official PC12 update for FSX.That way you know everything will work properly, and you'll be less frustrated.Henning|P4 3.0 GIG|Asus P4P800E Motherboard |1 GIG DDR 400 RAM|GeForce 6600OC 256MB | 160 GIG WD JB |120 GIG WD JB| SB Audigy 2 ZS|

Too late with your advice. I got it working with a small modification to Dreamflyer's instructions. Do as he suggests except the last part. Do not place the aircraft file you have made in the root directory of FSX into Simobjects folder, instead add the following line too FSX.CFG:SimObjectPaths.X=Aircraft (changing the sim objects number (x) to be the next number in the series, mine is 7).and leave the Aircraft folder where it is in the root directory of FSX.I ended up with two minor graphical aberations these are:2 large arrows appear on the torquemeter when the throttle is at idle (these disappear with throttle application)The fuel quantity gauge was odd with a compass rose sort of embedded in it however this disappeared when I took off to be replaced by a perfectly normal fuel gauge. There is some missing texture (ie decals on the real thing) from the cockpit sticks but they are only eye candy anway.I completed an IFR flight from KSNA to KFAT as a test run with an instrument approach on AP, all went well and I believe the aircraft flew slightly smoother than FS9 wjilst under manual control. I still wait with baited breath for an official upgrade but this will do for now. Its just so much nicer flying with a decent cockpit.Woooooooooot!:)John
